Hi everyone. I live in the Houston area and of course, this has been on the news. However, one of the local stations located the original owner to obtain the "back" story. Apparently the owner had left In the morning for his dialysis treatments and everything was fine. Before he got home, the water had risen to dangerous levels and the local authorities had blocked all roads to his home and would not allow him access to his home. Yes, living here, I have seen that happen with my own eyes. We had areas of town that had never flooded completely submerged in 30 minutes. He was devastated and pleaded with authorities to let him back in to his home to get something he needed. No, he didn't tell them it was his dog (and he should have in my opinion). But they wouldn't allow it. Fortunately, the sheriff was conducting a wellness check for people needing assistance to get out, and spotted the poor dog and rescued the little one. No excuses, I hate when people chain their animals outside but this gentleman did not evacuate and leave his dog chained up to die. Fortunately, the little one now has a good home and the original owner said he was just very happy to know that his companion did survive. Just thought I would share.
