But as far as I know the Amish pay taxes, therefore, they are on the grid. They have businesses which require licenses and taxes to be paid. On the grid.

Well he is very healthy......the thing is he and his friends really believe someone could attack us....the fed, economy failure etc. The place he likes does have a great hospital within 25 minutes....I had no idea how many people feel this way until I went to Costco and saw all this dehydrated food there. We live in weird times I do agree.

Ummmmmm.....he doesn't sound mentally healthy. I'm sorry, but it's true.

It's true? I don't think so. More and more people want to live this lifestyle, or at least be prepared for emergencies. (food , water, etc.)

If you think that's the picture of mental health, I worry about you also.

If you don't think that is happening in the world,,,,that is not the picture of health either.

Where I live, a lot of people are a bit off the grid. They heat entirely with wood in the winter and just doing that is a alot of work, but they never have to pay outrageous heating bills from propane or other fuels. I don't think I want to survive any kind of attack or catastrophic event, so for me, I prefer just staying put. I will say that there are many, many people who share your husbands concerns.

Somewhere the OP mentioned her husband feared the Feds, which brings to mind concerns about his mental health.

Really? He works in conjunction with them so he knows them very well. It meant the decisions that they have been making in the last decade. Time for you to read.

I do read, thanks. I am not concerned that the gub'ment is going to show up on my doorstep. I hope you like living off the grid.
