There are many natural disasters when folks just might need dehydrated foods, etc. I think it's a good idea to be prepared. At least have a few emergency totes near your door, just in case. We have a couple of totes, a pet carrier, flashlights, etc. near our front door in the entry closet.

She isn't burying her head. Quite a few of us here have been keeping up with this subject for years. It's associated with malcontents who put their fears on the federal government.
We saw it unfold most recently with Cliven Bundy. If that's your choice, good luck, but don't assume everyone else doesn't know what you know. We know more because we've been keeping track of it a long time, and that's why we could (and did) spot Bundy for what he was, long before most others.

It doesn't have to be dehydrated food, R. We've been keeping supplies for a long time, having made it through a big quake.

This was a nice thread until you made a comment about mental health,,,thx loads.
Me? Look at the title of your thread, at least I used the words "mental health", which is far better than the offensive "crazy" you used.
If you want to immerse yourself in the world of FEMA coffins, armed rebellion and the like, go right ahead, but please don't delude yourself into thinking it's normal.

Wouldn't you miss libraries, restaurants, movies, a nearby drugstore or a grocery store with fresh food?
How about knowing an ambulance could be at your service within minutes, or MD specialists that could save your life?
I get the lure of the outdoors, our vacations were that when I was a kid. I learned to fish, chop wood, shoot a rifle, all of that, but I wouldn't want it every day.
You can still have access to all those things if you live in the country. Farmers do it everyday.
I'm not talking about stockpiling guns and food (doomsday stuff) just living a more simple, peaceful life.
I guess it depends how far out you go, but no, I wouldn't miss the traffic, or noise.
