Denny Laine, lead singer of the Moody Blues before Justin Hayward joined the group, and member of McCartney's band Wings, has passed away. Laine was best known for lead singer of "Go Now" when he was with the Moodies.
I learned this news from Sir Paul's lovely tribute to his ex band mate in FB. Paul said Denny co-wrote Mull of Kintyre with him. Thanks for the music, Denny. RIP.

The Moody Blues is my absolute favorite band.
A bit of trivia: Denny Laine/Moody Blues did not write/compose "Go Now" .
Larry Banks and Milton Bennett were the composers and Bessie Banks recorded the song the same year, although not as popular.
Hayward and Thomas also covered the song.
Thomas, Edge, Laine - all tremendous musicians/singers and once Edge died Hayward said the Moody Blues are finished.

Sad for another loss. I was busy yesterday and missed this news. Thanks for posting.
I saw Denny Laine some years ago at a British Review at Ramshead Tavern in Annapolis. Peter Asher was there along with other notables.
It was a rousing, nostalgic look back at some wonderful music. Denny was a big part of all of that and amazing on stage.
I didn't know much about him at the time, but he was a great talent.
Sing on in heaven...

I had no idea who Denny Laine was until I saw this. I was a big fan of their music in my teens and still listen to them often. "Go Now" is a song that's still on my playlist. May he rest in peace.

@Witchy Woman You are welcome. Oh I would have loved that show. I loved the British Invasion in the 60's. Try to find Sir Paul's tribute to his ex band mate online; it's very nice.
