[ Edited ]

I swooned when I read that they come to the sound of your voice.  Beauty and joy without measure.

This will sound bizarre -- and believe me, I loathe rats and mice of all kinds, just like most other women -- but when I was 16:

(Perhaps I have shared this crazy story before)  I conducted an experiment with a laboratory (white) rat and mouse.  The biological warfare Army installation was located in my hometown, and because of our first-rate biology teacher, we visited the labs several times.

So, when it came time for a science fair project, I chose to compare the intelligence of a rat to that of a mouse.  The Army lab was happy to provide me with a specimen of each. Well, the rat not only won the competition but also a place in my heart and -- believe it or not -- in the heart of my mother.  My father (who never screamed), screamed when he saw the critter on the loose.  He loathed it!

Now why today's deer entry reminded me of this... When I would come home from being out and Constantine (yeah, that was his pretentious name) was on the loose upstairs (or wherever he was), he would run downstairs to greet me at the door when I made that sound made for dogs to come to eat.  Also, when I had chips or other goodies to feed him, he would come running when I made that sound.   How could I not love the little chap?

@MamaWick

They're all saying..."for me"?  You have goodies for ME???

The beauty is overwhelming, they are SO blessed. (and really, so are you)!

WE ARE BLESSED with these pics - I love seeing them.

At the end of my experiment, I returned the mouse to the lab but kept Constantine.  Unfortunately, he caught a cold after my bathing him one December day.  I indulged him by letting him run free to dry off instead of drying him off, and he caught cold.  Yes, I cried when he died.

@golding76 -

We had 2 sweet goldfish that were kept in our daughter's room.

As soon as I came in the door, I would call to them and say hi and their names-they would come to the top and we always thought it looked like a kiss which they also would do sometimes to our finger if we came close.

Now some may think, oh they were just hearing a voice and hoping for food, but I know they knew us.😊

They both lived very long lives for goldfish and they were both so sweet.

Re: DEER Wednesday 12/23/2020

on the bay,

What a lovely adventure.  Goldfish?  Who knew they had it in them?  LOL  Kissing your fingers.  How enchanting is that?

Animals are remarkable, aren't they?  My cats always remind me when I am late to feed them their main course or their snacks.  The animal kingdom is such a provider of joy to us humans, isn't it?

If they only knew how much we love them.  (At least, most of us.)
