Wow! I've never seen one do that before!

@on the bay. Yep.  They can get very territorial.  I'm waiting to get a picture with 2 of them reared up.  The bucks will fight with their antlers, along with rearing up.

It kind of reminds me of a kangaroo standing up like that lol. They are so sweet.

The ones that come in our yard stand up on their two hind legs to eat out of the bird feeder that is on a six foot pole.

I have never seen a deer stand on its hind legs before. I'm surprised that they do this.

"The bucks will fight with their antlers, along with rearing up."

Where I live, during mating season we can "hear" the males fighting among each other.  The sound of their antlers grinding & clanking carries a long way.

White tail deers can jump 6 feet from a standing position.  Reason why our garden is surrounded by a 8 foot high spiked fence.

The first photo looks as though they were choreographed by Busby Berkeley.   They are really artfully "arranged."

As for that reared-up territorial photo -  wow!  I, too, have never seen a deer do that.

Re: DEER Wednesday 10/14/2020

Even tho these deer hang out around people, and eat food handed and thrown out by a human, they are still wild animals.   I wouldn't turn my back on any of them.

For whatever reason, that doe felt there was a need to show her authority at that particular time.   Her ears are laid back and she's ready to charge.   Snorting and pawing the ground with their head down, or moving up and down is another show of authority, and you don't want to make the slightest move that's interpreted as you accepting their challenge.

Deer are not to be messed with.
