If you are squeamish, skip the last 2 pictures (out of 5).  This guy is rubbing his velvet off and you can see how icky/bloody it looks.

Thank you for the squeam warning. I didn't find it upsetting to look at. Fascinating to me, really. I don't think I've ever gotten a good look at that stage of their antler development.

So cute! Are those fawns twins? Love the way Mom is peeking out from the tree. I figured when I saw those pictures that is what was happening with the antlers.

Thank you @MamaWick - look forward to the pictures every day.

The picture of the fawns in the wild grass, so special and precious!  Another nature lesson learned, the antlers shedding their velvet covering!  Not only have I enjoyed MamaWick's photos which are so professional but I have learned bits and pieces about our woodland friends!  There is so much about animals to learn and going to this post gives me insight, smiles and serenity. It is one of my good times of day!!!!

, So cute the fawns still have their spots.   Thanks for the warning.  If you hadn't said what was going on it would have been a What the Heck has he been doing?!" moment.

Are All new Buckleys photos from today?  he was a buzy boy.

Aw he gets a treat from @MamaWick, after that hard job!🥰

I wonder if it hurts? And why they do it. It does look kind of beautiful and fairy-like with the velvet doesn't it?

Either way, New Buckley is a very handsome guy!

That was sweet of you to warn people too!

Awesome pictures as always! I love the pics of those little fawns❤️ I am somewhat squeamish but found the pictures of the half rubbed off velvet really interesting. Hope you and Papa Wick are doing well.
