@MamaWick There is one deer that is cautious today (she'll change her ways in time). How can you tell the males from the females? Looking at them from a side view, I don't see any difference. I love their innocent faces.

You've been Tracys gardian angel since she showed up a wounded youngster. Something special for her to venture up to you. Does she know her name?

@Katcat1 The boys are currently re-growing their antlers for this year. Some just have small nubbins, but others (as in my pictures last week, I think) have the antlers really popping.

I think that animals get to know us when we care for them. Even the birdies know me and they know Rupert. I taught him, when he was very young, that we don't scare them, we don't bark at them or chase them, we take care of them, and we keep them safe. If he goes out and some of them are in the yard he will stay back and not scare them.
Rupert can be lying on the step and there will be little birdies a foot away on the deck and they know he won't hurt them.
Even the little mousies got to know us. I hope I never forget how that one little mouse stood up on his little toes, with his hands at the edge of the deck where I was standing a foot away. I was talking to him and he stood there looking up at me. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen in person. I actually came in the house and cried because it was just the sweetest thing ever. They will come out and get a peanut. I haven't been able to hand-feed them, but they will come out sometimes when they hear me. I love it!!

@chickenbutt That is so sweet. I wish Cricket wouldn't bark, but she barks at the wind.

The trust of an animal is a sacred gift, not given lightly.
You are blessed, Mama Wick.

Hoping Tracy is comfortable enough to give birth in the lot next to us, and stash her baby behind our trash cans or under our truck.
@MamaWick Do you have nursery decor planned for the garbage can area in case she chooses to give birth there? Maybe a Bambi theme?
