Some bloody velvet rub off.  Sometimes the rubbed off velvet just hangs on the antlers.  This fella's rub off isn't as ugly as it could be.

While this may look harmful, I know it is part of antler growth and nature. and doesn't cause harm to the deer.  Thank you, MamaWick for not only your wonderful photos but also for providing information about these gentle creatures!  It is nature at work.

@MamaWick   Ouch.  Looks like it hurts, but it is the cycle of nature.  Mr Buck will look handsome in time for the Rut and find himself a beautiful doe.

I had a Spike Buck in my backyard last week that had the bloody velvet hanging down off his spikes. Poor thing. 🙁. It was kind of gross. I felt bad for him, but a couple days later he was all cleaned up.🙂

Beautiful boy...he looks so sweet and gentle.

I can't quite make out what Willow's bandanna is but she looks adorable. So coordinated with her collar and blanket. A fashion 'Do" for certain!
