It's a beautiful sunny, 65 degree day in Texas Hill Country.   Part of the gang was watching PapaWick put a ladder back in the shed (first 2 pictures).  They know the nutrition pellets are kept there.

Boy, they are so clever.  "Let's watch Papa and see how he gets to the grub," they seem to be thinking.

Leave it to Cricket to keep all the herd in its place.  She is so feisty!  As I always write, I get a real kick out of that spirited cutie.

@MamaWick   One of my dogs, a Norfolk/Yorkie mix, weighs about ten pounds.  A few years ago, a side gate was open and we didn't know it.  One day, there were about six deer on the property, and as I was going inside, that girl pup escaped and took off after those deer.  All of the deer leapt over a four foot fence down the railroad tie stairs leading to the driveway at which point there was a standoff.

All of the deer standing at the top of the steep driveway, staring at my little dog, now crouching on the walk, staring at them, and as I tried to grab her, off she took and so did the deer.  I thought I would never see her again as she chased them I don't know how far down the road or into the creek.

I was frantic, calling her name loudly over and over, first thinking she would be kicked to death, then that she wouldn't know her way back home.  All of a sudden what do I see but this dog walking slowly up the driveway very proud of herself, and up the front walk to me.

@mousiegirl  Your fur baby was proud of protecting you, which is her job.  We think Cricket would bolt after them if she wasn't in her harness and hooked to her run line.

@MamaWick   Yes, seeing your little dog is what made me recall my harrowing experience, as he is staring at them.

How attentive the visitors are to the Wicks, quietly and calmly watching their friends go about their business, a calm feeling for all as Cricket joins in!!!!!

@MamaWick

Too cute, the deer know all about the pellets and Cricket is getting them to stand in an orderly line to await their turn to eat....

Hugs to sweet Cricket.....
