The sweet deer are enjoying some snacks and relaxing in the sun on a lazy Saturday .....

So glad you put water out for them. They need that year round. Thanks again for sharing your incredible deer family with us.

Their fur looks so soft and fluffy!
I would love to pet one!
They all just look so happy to be there and I'm sure they are. They are able to eat in peace and be safe, (unless they are having a food fight!).

@MamaWick Do you ever hear them make noises or talk to each other?

I'm wondering that too!
Oh my goodness! I just looked it up and on youtube they have a baby deer in Japan making all kinds of sounds from sounding like a baby lamb to an alarming heron and a screaming kind of sound.
Then another deer a kind of gentle rattle and then a huffing sound.
I never would have imagined all the sounds they make! It seems in these videos they made these noises when in stress, because they seem to be quiet when they are not feeling they are in danger or in an alert mode.
So glad you asked that question @Porcelain.

We get a FEW deer in our yard (nothing like the Wicks), and I have heard them make sounds. It surprised me. It sounds like a snort, I guess I would describe it. They make the sound if they are startled or scared. Then they run away. Maybe they are warning other deer.

Their snort is a "warning." They also stomp as a warning. The bucks have a mating call during the rut. The fawns have a call for their mamas.

I love your photos. When I fed deer they were not as tame but would come when I called "deer, doe". Lots of hunters here I didn't want them tame.
This morning about 7:30 Snickers and I walked to the triangles of grass and buttercups down the street. My three were grazing there. Snickers ignores them.
They went across the street to woods and I softly called to them. They stopped and watched us as we passed then returned to their triangles.
On our return trip they grazed and didn't run. They look good and there's natural food around. But I wanted to give them carrots!

Chillin out at the Wick's Deer Diner on this beautiful Saturday. They look beautiful @MamaWick .
We've had coyotes for the past week howling up a storm. They really make a haunting sound.
