We shall have naps wherever we go lol! WillowHeart

The first deer is talking to you and the second-he definitley looks like king of the forest.

I had a magical deer encounter last night. I heard this rustling and thought it was my possum but it got closer and louder and I looked up and there were 2 little ears on a little head peeking through the iron railing. So I talked to him or her? for a long while and the little one kept bobbing up and down, peeking through, listening. I think if the railing hadn't been there he would have come right onto the yard.I think maybe he was young enough to be more curious than afraid. It was almost like he was playing peek-a-boo! Such special moments!

I thought of your deer @MamaWick, who come to see you every day and I bet you still feel the same way I did- those magical moments.

The other time that was like something out of a movie, I was sitting outside late at night again and this huge buck came several yards from me and we just both watched each other not making a sound. His antlers were glorious. I was spellbound. He had just appeared very quietly. Then after letting me admire him for awhile he quietly left.

The forest here, I never know what to expect. It can be very exciting!

Such impressive photos of the handsome Bucks standing tall and proud!!!!  Their visit to the Wick's for some good food always a time of peace and safety for them.  Nature is filled with so many gifts and the deer are my daily dose of her offerings.

Willow White looks nice and relaxed basking in the warm sun on the soft grass. Fresh air and a nap, it's all good!

I enjoyed your story encounters with the deer!  It must be an adventure living near the forest and being surprised by the wild life who visit!

Woofs and hugs to the always adorable Miss Willow White, soaking up some vitamin D sunshine.  There's lots of room for a friend, me, to join her.   🤣

@spiderw,

That is how it is-a surprise every night! Sometimes I can't wait til night comes so I can see what visitor friends come.

The possum(s) come like clockwork every night. He and she are like cats-they have a built in snacktime clock lol! So even though I may be falling asleep, I wait for them.I just put out a little-blueberries, bananas, maybe some p butter on a shredded wheat, apples. They like grapefruit and do not like vegetables at all! I switch it up a lot. They always look so pleased and appreciative and they chew sooo loudly they make me laugh.I try never to make a sound though because they will waddle quickly away. They don't see very well in the lamplight.

The deer are always a surprise.

Sometimes there will be several of them rummaging around and I have shined my flashlight to see them. At first they would run but now I think they know my voice so they just carry on with what they were doingSmiley Happy

I always tell them I'm so glad to see them and I love them and "Hi sweeties!" And "you are so pretty!"

I think all wild animals get to know our voices. Im sure if neighbors hear me they think there is that crazy lady. I think the animals probably think that too.

There are 2 little birds that are used to me. They are building their nest up in the eaves. Sometimes they scold me because they think I am sitting in their chair (which they used to sit on themselves!)

Still I would love to visit with @MamaWick's Bed and deer Breakfast and get to pet one!

I don't feed the deer here because they are not protected like at @MamaWick's.

Well, I didn't mean to go on so long but I love talking about them and how amazing they all are. They do bring a lot of joy!

What heart warming encounters. So happy you were able to experience such beauty in close proximity. I believe these magical creatures only go to those whom they know are kind hearted. I wish you many more wonderful meetings!

You are a true lover of animals and nature!  Reading your posts it is obvious how much happiness your visitors bring you. As MamaWick bonds with the deer, you bond with the critters who come by.  Those who visit this post have that in common, our appreciation for animals and all that nature gives to us!

@MamaWick

Love your beautiful photos......

@on the bay

Thank you for sharing your wonderful animal encounters!!! What great wildlife stories....I'm so glad to hear you love animals

I love animals too and even though I live in the suburbs here in South Texas....we have a lot of fields and green belt areas near me and they are a haven for deer, possums, racoons, lizards, rat snakes, field mice...and birds....its so much fun to see all these critters ......although we could do without the occasional visit from some skunks....🦝🦨🦌🐦‍⬛🐦🦎 🐀🐍

I haven't seen the deer lately since the coa stopped running the sprinklers at night due to our drought conditions..they would come to get a drink of water from the sprinklers...I hope they come back...
