Re: DEADLY MYSTERY AT ROB REINER'S HOUSE

I have said before many people with mental illnesses, especially schizophrenia also are narsissic in many ways.  They don't have a lot of empathy, or actually sane reasonable contact with others. The same illness that's sometimes pulls them into their own world doesn't always let them relate to people like we would. As long as their needs are met, no matter how they get them ...things are fine. Same with deeply addicted drug addicts. Their need for drugs abandons relationships in favor of drugs.  Some of these traits would blame their parents, spouses for everything wrong in the world. If things don't go right, it is always because of someone else or something. It's like narcissism.

@feline groovy   schitzophrenia can't be diagnosed as a rule til teens. It is rare to have a diagnoses young, although I read a story on a young child at 7 who was officially diagnosed withThe disease.  Also, I agree, drug intoxication can mimic mental issues.  Shrinks have said at times you can't distinguish the drug intoxication and addiction from psych symptoms so it can go undiagnosed if the patient is on drugs.  Might be why Nick was addicted young, (masking his symptoms) so other problems went undiagnosed.  But as I have said. Until you have lived with, taken care of someone with schitzophrenia you can't know the deep, complex issues and behaviors presented,

Given the involvement of Nick's parents in seeking resources to help Nick with his drug addiction issues, it can be assumed that licensed psychiatrists were involved. I think it is best  not to speculate on a diagnosis until, and if, there is a public statement from a licensed psychiatrist who evaluated and possibly also treated him. This might happen during a trial. Until then, it seems best to avoid amateur diagnoses. Also, if psychotropic  medication was prescribed, we have no way of knowing if he took it.

Is there any credible information anywhere as to which "family member" actually contacted Jackson and retained him?

Everything I can locate says "Nick has hired...." which is highly doubtful.   Anyone know who's pulling the strings and sending the dough?

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes Good question.  i wondered that also, I wonder if he is doing this pro bono?   If I was his sibling I wouldn't be in a big hurry to hire him a top notch defense team.

@spumoni99

See post #111.

It was a family decision to hire a top attorney, and they will be paid from the Reiner estate.

Better Nick ends up in a court-appointed treatment facility than a prison.

If the Drs said he was Dangerous, why didn’t they hospitalize him so that he couldn’t hurt himself or anyone else.

They must have known he was a ticking bomb that could be set off very easily.

I don’t think he will be able to stand trial and plead not guilty by reason of insanity, when he sees exactly what he did.

Out of curiosity, have any of you watched the Roast of Rob Reiner on youtube? It's unsettling, particularly remarks by Al Franken and Billy Crystal.

@RescueLover

I keep thinking about the "new drug" Nick had been put on recently.

I'm sure there will be plenty of controversy about this drug when it is finally identified at trial.

I also wonder if anyone else has a family member taking this new drug will now be pushing for a change of medications.

I sure would, and wonder if it'll be taken off the market now.

@Tinkrbl44 ☃️

You know I never thought about that ! You might be right that it was a brand new type of drug used to treat Schizophrenia.

I was only thinking it was a new drug to him that he hadn’t tried before and that they were tinkering with his meds to get it just right.
