Re: DDay Anniversary coverage/Events Portsmouth England

Thanks for the tip, @ms traditional!  It's been so long since I watched it, I'm forgetting what channel BBC America is on on the DirecTV system.  Will have to go on the hunt...

A few minutes ago I caught a report on it by the always-capable Fox reporter Benjamin Hall, who is a Brit, but it was brief.  Wonder why there wouldn't be more wall-to-wall coverage of such an important historical event.  Even C-SPAN has fallen down-- doesn't have anything so far that I can see.

@Oznell  it's over now -  yes, no C-Span and U S coverage was hit or miss.  BBC stuck with the actual program which was done for the D-Day vets particularly, highlighting their letters from the front, an excerpt from the play "Pressure" which keyed in on the difficult decisions of the generals, music from the period (touching to see the vets mouthing words from  75 years ago which are still on their lips) and a fly-by, pass-by by bombers, fighters, ships from the period.  the Queen spoke -  and after all, she is not only the reigning monarch - but a vet from the period.  really something.

Thanks for the fill-in, @ms traditional --  that sounds really impressive, would have been good to see.  Perhaps there will be recaps later, although the immediacy of live coverage for me is preferable and always carries an extra wallop.

What's sad is, every day we are loosing more and more of our World War 2 vets.

Soon, they'll be all gone.

This is why it is so important for children to learn about our history in school
