Re: DD's Description Of Wegmans Today

ShopRite was also a zoo this afternoon.  I had only a few items but there was no express check-out.  Furthermore, they have a lot of self check-outs (eight to ten) but at least four of them weren't working; the others were mostly occupied by novices who were scanning - or trying to scan - their full cart of groceries.  What a wait!  I decided not to buy ice cream because it would have been half-melted by the time I got to a register.

This is no surprise..... our grocery chain here, HEB, even sent out a notice to local TV news stations and for customers who signed up for store emails, an email was sent advising shortened store hours on the day of Easter, and advising everyone to shop early......... The massive crowds happens EVERY holiday..not just during a pandemic either....

They are building a Wegman's less than 2 minutes from my house.  It should be done early 2022 as they are redeveloping an old office park.  I can't wait!

@fthunt  Also have none here in the Phoenix metro area.  Not sure they are in L.A. where my family lives either.

Re: DD's Description Of Wegmans Today

I have found that mid-afternoon on Wednesdays I the best time for grocery shopping. We have a huge, trashy WM close to us and there is no good time to go there; I hate that I have to go inside sometimes for things I can't get other place that are close-by, but every day of the week the parking lot is full at every WM I see, and unfortunately they are everywhere. I prefer just a regular grocery store where I don't have to walk 1/2 mile to get to the milk and another 1/2 to the front door. Too much time and too many people.

@ninjawife   Same timetable for the new Wegmans by me in northern VA.  There are already three I could go to within a 20 mile radius, but this new one will be just 4 miles away!  I cannot wait! Smiley Very Happy

Agree.  I was in Wegmans at about 9:30 am, it was much more crowded than it normally would be.

We can always exchange places. You are where I would like to be.

Me too. We have a Wal Mart, Kroger and a small grocery store that use to be Harps, it literally stinks in there and I won't shop there no matter how cheap the prices are.
