Good grief!!! what a start to 2025!!! Polar vortex to the east and the fires of H&LL in the west--- I am in western WA and we are very cold at night around freezing or lower-- chilly during the day--in the low-mid 40's and sunshine and blue skies--so am not going to complain at all. We went thru many atmophereic rivers and a bomb cyclone or 2 the last few months but nothing like the ice and fires. Stay safe eveyone--and be careful.

So true.  It's sunny and 30ish now so no worries.  But they are predicting single digit temps all next week.  Only going out if necessary and soups/stews, baking bread.  Reading.  Netflix.

We're under a Winter Storm Warning where I live in PA. Locally we're expecting 6"-8" of snow today, Sunday. Monday will begin polar cold temps with highs going down to the teens & lows going down to single digit. It's winter.

In summer, I'll complain about the heat Lol.

@Desert Lily I am not a big fan of summer either.Heat and humidity are terrible in illinios.I would rather put on layers than being hot

We have a Cold Alert for the next 4 days. Woke up to a -0 wind chill this morning. I'll leave my water dripping the next 4 days.

Same here in Philadelphia @Desert Lily

Shiver me timbers!

Snow all day today. Then through to midweek, wind chills from -5 to -15.

Stay warm and safe, friends!

Same thing here in north NJ.  Waiting for snowstorm to start shortly, expecting 6 inches.  I have all I need at home and will stay indoors.  I haven't had pasta for a while so I will cook.  Bought some turkey sausages which taste good in sauce.

Stay warm and safe everyone!

The weather report we listened to last night at 6PM was absolutely ridiculous.

This may happen or maybe not, it could happen later or maybe sooner or maybe it won't happen by this time.

He should have said, look out the window periodically because I really just don't know what's going to happen.

It's currently a toasty 16 degrees, with a wind chill reading of 13 in SW Michigan. The sun is out, which is something we rarely see in the winter and it feels glorious in the warm patches where it streams thru my living room windows.

Snow and sub zero actual temps are on the way this afternoon. I imagine that the kids will get a couple of days off from school this week. Not because of snow. We can handle  6-8 inches with no problem. But the sub zero temps will make it dangerously cold for them to be out at the bus stop.

As usual, my odd neighbor is complaining, as she does quite regularly, that my keeping the themostat at 68 degrees in my house, makes it harder for her to heat hers to 78. It's a condo where we share a common interior wall. It's well insulated. She can put on a sweater.
