Re: Curious - average age of the QVC customer

I would guess women ages 65-75 would be the age demographic Q targets. I bought some clothing when I was working, but mostly I bought Philosophy , Diamonique, and L&L because I didn't see it anywhere else. Unfortunately, the Diamonique and L&L quality has dropped so much that I hesitate to buy it anymore.

Re: Curious - average age of the QVC customer

I am certain QVC knows the age of every customer who makes a purchase from them...plus a lot of other personal information. It is very hard to keep personal info personal now. That's how we get bombarded with Medicare, Senior living, and investment solicitations. Some companies do nothing but buy and sell mailing lists and the buyer can choose which specific demographic they want. QVC is probably a customer like so many other large companies.

Re: Curious - average age of the QVC customer

@Sooner
I totally understand your frustration about comments concerning getting old (in a negative way) being a form of discrimination. I am thinking that anything said negatively about a trait of someone else would/could be a form of discrimination. I think, in today’s time, we have so many forms of communication that someone could be offended at least once a day.
But, I was just saying to you, that if you want to make it known that negative expressions about getting old, whether done in fun or someone saying something old about themselves, is derogatory and putting the old and the natural thing of getting old down…then just be blunt and say just that!
What you said to the other poster, I never got the point that you took her comment as a form of discrimination. That’s all.
But when you said something later, you said what you meant and it made sense.😃

I was the only female working with 100’s of male customers (hairdresser) and I learned a lot about how men communicate. And I kinda picked up on it-not by choice.

And that is…They just say what they mean. Bluntly.

I’m just writing all of this, because I think YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD POINT!! I ALSO THINK WE SHOULD EMBRACE GETTING OLD/OLDER!! IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ALL OF US! IT IS NOT PREVENTABLE, MAYBE WE CAN TRY TO COVER IT UP, BUT WE ARE STILL GETTING OLDER EVERYDAY!!
AND…I think that all of those devices, wrinkle products, and the things salespeople say ABOUT WHAT WE LOOK LIKE WITH WRINKLES, CREPE SKIN, ETC. PLAY INTO THE POINT THAT GETTING OLD/OLDER IS SOMETHING TO AVOID-LIKE IT IS A CONTROLLABLE DISEASE OR SOMETHING!
And we KNOW NO ONE CAN AVOID THE CLOCK OF LIFE!! So, as your point is….Let’s stop pretending that we all are not getting older everyday and embrace it with a good attitude and know that with getting old comes wisdom, better discernment, and seeing life with more depth-than caring about outward appearances-to the point that it becomes obsessive.
I think AS LONG AS SALES PEOPLE KEEP HYPING UP HOW GREAT it is to TRY to erase some FINE LINES…and Sales Ads and such continue to put younger people or photoshop older people’s photos…we are in for a long haul of getting others to see how often they talk negatively about getting old. And people seeing that as discriminatory. I myself embrace getting older. I HAVE NO CHOICE😉

@Jesse Ann I am happy that you got my point and then said it better than I did.  Thank you!

Still no idea what items @wifey2qt thinks are for more mature customers.

I'd love to hear her idea of what she thinks is for 70+ year olds that wouldn't be good for her age range.....

@scatcat

I disagree about the quality of clothing and comparing it to Kohls. I purchase Susan Graver, Belle, and some Denim and Company and find the quality much better than Kohls.  I have actually stopped buying clothing from Kohls as nothing fits as well or launders as well.  Just my opinion but I  would rather spend a few more dollars on qvc than buy with 30% off at Kohls and not actually wear what I got at what seemed like a good deal.

Very curious as to why people who don't shop or haven't shopped QVC for many, many years would post on their forum site? 🤔

They obviously have time on their hands and like to express their opinion.  I think I would find better things to do than go on a site where I don't shop.  They must be bored.

Re: Curious - average age of the QVC customer

@Sooner  - actually no one sniped at you ....... you clearly are projecting your feelings about your own age. Perhaps some self awareness on your part is something you should look into. Everything marketed to women is about turning back the clock, not advancing it so I have no problem saying its not fun to get older. Your statement about my wanting older people to be neither seen or heard is obnoxious and ridiculous and I sense you love to stir the pot

There is no need to "speculate" as to the demographics of the average QXH customer.

As a poster noted earlier in this thread, very detailed information is disclosed and published by Qurate on a regular basis via investor reports and SEC filings.

For example, the average age of a QXH customer is reported as "early 60s", with an average annual income of $97,000 and average discretionary spending of $8,500 annually.

28% of QXH customers are reported to be in the 65-74 age range, while 13% of the U.S. population falls in that range.

15% of QXH customers are in the 75+ range (8% for the U.S. population overall.)
