I have done a few pickups at Joanne Fabrics, Aldi, and the library. This week ordered one ornament at Hallmark. I left bag in car to hibernate as I usually do. Later in day I got call from store checking if j got right order because they had given order of 12 ornaments to wrong person. I went to car and sure enough they were there. Told lady I would drop off later in day and get mine. I did so, letting her get from trunk. Guess what, three of her ornaments had spilled in the box that the sack was in and she did not retrieve. I called when I got home and told of problem. ThIs is more driving around than I wanted.
Lesson: check trunk before leaving. (Did I relay that the word thank you not used at my return or phone call? Guess my mistake). Double checking not being done by all merchants.

Your Hallmark's store sounds like mine....never a thank you, never a smile, nothing at all especially when I tell them I don't have one of their "cards". You've gone out of your way to rectify their error....good point about checking our trunks after a delivery.

@Twins Mom You are right-check your order before driving away.
My concern would always be - did I get what I ordered?
So yes, check your order and save yourself some time and extra trips.
The lack of a "thank you" is a non-issue at this point.

Good advice and thank you. It was nice of you to try to rectify their error. No good deed goes unpunished as they say, especially when you receive a lecture on what you could have done better, smh.

I've been using Walmart's grocery pickup for the last 6 months. About a month ago they gave me the wrong order. As soon I got home and was going to unloaqd the car I thought I didn't order eggs. Luckily, it's only 5 minutes away and they had tried to call me regarding the mistake.

I guess I am a trusting individual, hoping to be treated as I would treat. Hopefully I have learned from this.

@Twins Mom...I usually have delivery but have done the pickup as well, only at Walmart. However, thank you for telling us about your experience, the heads up is very much appreciated. Should I use the pick up again I will remember to check the trunk before driving off. ![]()

I'm glad you posted this.
**What I'm about to say next is not meant to be offensive:
I personally have never done any type of curbside pickup. Why? Precisely because of human error. We're all human and make mistakes. But if I were to order this way, would I be ticked if I got the wrong order. Working in CS all of my life - here's what would have happened:
I would have had the STORE come back and pick up my wrong order and then they would also need to bring me the correct order. I'm not using my gas and time for their mistake.
I retired from banking and there have been instances where my teller gave the wrong money in drive through to the wrong customer. I PERSONALLY drove the correct money to the customer. No way would I ask them to come back. If they offered, that's different. We did that kind of thing often.
I guess I have high standards. BTW, my branch and employees were very well liked.

Edited to add: I am VERY polite and kind hearted but over the years I had to learn to be direct and assertive. My mother was extremely passive and wouldn't even call the doctor's office to reschedule an appointment lol
