I'm watching CNN to get my updates:

It seems that there are plenty of people who have glasses half full, and then there are those whose glasses are half empty. For those who have half-empty glasses want their 15 minutes of fame, hope their stories are honest and are not coming off the ship with $$ in their eyes, running into the arms of attorneys and frivolous lawsuits.

From what I gather, it sounds like Carnival has really done a heck of a good job under the unforeseen circumstances, and passengers will be well compensated for their troubles. They should have no qualms about cruising with Carnival in the future. Their biggest future scare would seem to be contracting noro virus, which seems to happen quite frequently among all cruise lines at one time or another.
