I was home yesterday nursing a cold and I heard that call too. When she came on they introduced her from Illinois, my location so ears looked up and then the call went south. From euphoria talking to Kim to complete emotional meltdown.
This holiday season is a trigger for many and especially home bound who need an outlet.
Kim and Mary were shocked because it came on so suddenly and it was painful. As uncomfortable to hear we have to be sensitive to the fragility of that call/caller, and although it is not the role of the Q to have this call come on air, it can’t be dismissed because of that state of emotion.
Yeah, like all of you I’m in agreement but in the big picture as we listened we knew something was definitely off and not well.
I don’t blame the phone screeners, they can’t detect this stuff in a second answering the calls but I will agree it needs to be addressed. Kim handled it well as she could.

Re: Cringy phone calls

[ Edited ]

I heard the end of it, I missed the first part.  Yes, it is sad, but we may never had to walk in their shoes.  We don't know exactly what others are going though.  It makes me sad, but it certainly doesn't change how I'm buying. The holidays are also triggers for many that are lonely or grief stricken.

Years ago, I was at a summer picnic, and a person at the picnic was telling all about their QVC addiction, and it was very sad.  She said she would buy several of the same items, and had boxes and boxes that were never opened.  The conversation was truly sad.

Eons ago, when I was fully HSN/QVC addicted, had money to burn, & was quite the overly enthusiastic HSN/QVC Purchaser, I'd called in there several times.  I seem to remember that the initial "phone answerer" asked a lot of questions before putting me on hold, awaiting being put thru to the Hosts.  The calls seemed quick, all business, & virtually only abt the product being presented.

But I havent watched QVC/HSN in such awhile, protecting myself from over-buying, so I only gather what I read from y'all on these QVC/HSN Host dealings & phone calls.

Im kind of surprised callers are so publicly emotional.  Maybe the initial Operator fields the call-ins differently now?

Altho I still have a sense that both during & post COVID, and with the incredible generational prevalence of Cell Phones, & our respective aging, et al,  we public are still trying to get our bearings about what our life is to be like now.  Or maybe I'm just personally projecting.  I certainly am trying to locate my own post-COVID, more quickly aging, & changing Communication via Cell Phone life bearings.
