I was watching when that call and another call, along the same line, came in and honestly, they brought me to tears.  I give alot of credit to Kim, she truly does seem to care and if it makes the caller even a bit happy, I'm good with it.  There are alot of people who are lonely and alone, especially this time of year.  A little kindness and empathy goes a long way.

ITA!   I also heard that call and I was thinking, why on earth is this even allowed??!!

So ridiculous and it's inappropriate that they let the caller go on and on.    It's fine if you are a fan and I like Kim okay but the one's that act like the host or vendor has changed their life in one way or another, please!   Can't tolerate it and it does not help sell the product.

@LindaSal.  Once she started talking, they really couldn't disconnect her without appearing unfeeling.  She should never have been chosen to talk on the air.  Very poor screening.

Oh yes, the producer who screened the call knew exactly what they were doing.  They love those highly emotional calls because that's how they make more sales.  Perhaps not you or me, but there are plenty of others out there who are extremely lonely and/or upset, and use QVC all day to spend money on things they don't need as a form of therapy.

It's called Emotional Marketing.  Some people form strong bonds with brands, and that audience translates into increased loyalty and purchases.

Kim's entire shtick relies on those shoppers especially.  The fact that she's on so much is proof that it works for her.

Seems to me in earlier years of QVC , they always had callers who  seemed to bring up deaths of loved ones or  talk of themselves with cancer or some illness or disability.

 I don't think QVC should take calls . There are mental health professionals to help people and grief counselors .

My heart breaks for people who have pain and nobody to talk to.  I figure some day it very well could be me, and I hope I don't wind up calling QVC.

People here post a lot of things that surprise me.  It surprises me how much is stuff that they someone might want to see or know.  I always try to think will enough people be interested so I won't take up space from other better subjects.

I heard that call as well today and felt bad for her.  She was very emotional.  Some people feel a close connection to the hosts on the Q.  I think Kim has a following and women feel connected to her.

I'm not a fan of the calls.  I would prefer they would skip them.

@Bookplate

In the early 2000s, when I watched QVC, ladies would call that seemed either very lonely or sad or had one too many adult beverages.  Some of them would start a sob story.  I was embarrassed for them.  I wondered how long the host would let them continue.

Yeah...I even remember hearing the ice clinking in their "adult beverage" glass.     di

I have mixed feelings about those sad calls. I don’t want to hear them and get upset. But it is true that some people just need someone to talk to. BUT if they go back and listen to themselves when they search the product video, they might be embarrassed that they were so vulnerable on live TV.

I didn't hear the call, but read about it on Facebook.  I don't like listening to the call-in's.  My remote goes on mute.
