Yep, when people make stupid choices, along comes the studies that say Addiction. Studies of course done by corporations that get a BIG piece of the "lookin down instruments" pie, otherwise known as mobile computers.
Gotta give everyone an out. Addiction seems to be that out. Wonder what Addiction they will study to be the cause of perpetual criminals? I'm sure someone is working on that study.
"Gives them temporary pleasure"!
Now @Nancy Drew This has nothing to do with you, or your post. You are only the messenger telling us about the studies. Not meant as anything negative towards you.

@hckynutjohn I know what you mean. I also think just because you have an addiction you don't get a pass if that addiction harms someone else.

It would be interesting to know how IQ test results are moving over the decades. I would assume that IQ scores for those still living in the more dangerous parts of the world are holding steady or rising while those for us in the "safer" parts of the world are likely falling. We've largely removed intelligence as a factor for survival by making the world so safe it's hard for even the dumbest people to kill themselves accidentally.
This response is for @gardenman.
You are absolutely correct. Also, Western country IQ scores have been falling, scientists say, caused by bringing in so many low IQ immigrants and border crossings from other countries. United States has fallen from an average of 100 to 98. That is below average.
Intelligent people are busy working and doing other things they don't have time to have any or are having fewer children. Some say they don't want to bring children into this world as it is today.
Intelligent people are inventing things, improving the world while those with low IQ's reap the benefits. As a result, it's no longer survival of the fittest, it's survival of everyone.
It's very noticeable now quite a few of the population are unable to critically think. Have few analytic capabilities and common sense. Critical thinking had been taught in schools and colleges. Now students are told what to think.
This is a touchy subject, but dumbing down was brought up. I have seen it for quite some time.

The treadmill video? As one that has broken my nose 9 times! If she didn't bust her pretty nose, she was danged lucky.
Wonder if surgeons will figure out a way to implant the computer parts, then install a projector on maybe their hands. That way they won't have to carry these things, and the battery will last a year. Then just a little port to charge it, might shocked a bit, then off for another 12 months.

Could it be possible, in the distant future, that humans will evolve (I often say 'de-volve') into not having peripheral vision?
Because of not using eye muscles and not looking side to side and all around.
Well, it's just a thought of mine, as usual.

p.s. Even many / some kids aren't looking all around while in back seats of cars.
Not seeing / enjoying the view, people, landscapes, etc., etc.
Some of them are always looking at their gadgets instead of viewing scenery and everything else all around.
Oh, well.......just hoping and wishing on our lucky stars for the best outcome in the future.

I think is creative but it shouldn't be needed to save people from themselves.

Darwin was a theory @gardenman . Never proven factual. His theory of evolution is still a theory.

Now that I'm thinking about it (again), in Yoga classes many years ago, the instructor had us exercise our eye balls.......rotating them all around, and up and down. Also with our eyes closed.
Maybe we should have mandatory 10 minute eye exercises in public and other (private, etc.) elementary, middle, maybe even high schools. Just so the children/students can keep their eye muscles strong.
Just another one of my ideas, right or wrong, etc.
