Re: Crazy unwanted phone calls

@hyacinth003, the other day I got a call on my cell that had a local number.  I didn’t answer it.  A message was left from a credit card company looking to lower the interest rate which I have had many times before.  I called back the number and, interestingly enough, a woman answered.  I told her I got a call from her number.  She had no clue and wasn’t interested in following up.

I believe her number was hacked.

I got rid of my home phone.  Never regretted it.  I recently signed up for a new cable deal including a home phone.  I declined the phone.  Get far less telemarketing calls.  LM

Re: Crazy unwanted phone calls

I get a lot of those calls.  I just let it ring.

if it is important, the person can leave a message on the answering machine.

It is easier on my nerves, I can tell you that.

@CAcableGirl2 How do you get this nomorobo service?

@panda1234

Go to nomorobo.com, to see if it's available to you, depending on your phone carrier.

Now, Nomorobo is also available for cell phone #'s too.

Re: Crazy unwanted phone calls

I got nomorobo awhile back and it has done wonders. The phone rings once and it's done.

Supposedly Congress is planning on dealing with this problem, but Congress isn't the fastest moving and the scammers will just figure out another way to try to take our money.

The calls about credit cards, and the IRS and Microsoft are nothing but scams. None of those calls are really from the companies they claim to be.

The newest one I've gotten was a National Home Repair. I don't think that guy was even in the US. He spoofed a lady's phone number, but he didn't do his homework before calling. He was using the number of someone named Janet, and he said his name was Janet. He didn't understand when I laughed at him until I told him the next time he steals someone's name check to see if it's the name of a man.

He called back the next day now named Jason, but I told him I know you want to steal from me and I won't fall for your scam. He hasn't called back. It's guys like him that are giving the people from India a bad reputation.

All you can really do is just not answer the phone if it's a number you don't know on Caller ID. I won't give up my phone.

Yes, drop the landline! I have a cell exclusively and never get any unwanted calls. Never.

I get those calls on both my landline and cell all the time. If I don't recognize the number I don't answer either one. Worst case scenario is someone has to leave a voicemail.

If I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer.I have been doing this for a long time and the calls seem to have decreased....but who knows it could be the calm before the storm.

Re: Crazy unwanted phone calls

I have nomorobo and still get these calls. Seems telemarketers know how to get around all this stuff. Grrrrr.
