Alamosa, Co, which is NOT in the mountains but is at 7500 ft in altitude (high desert), is predicted to have up to 16" of snow. In Albuquerque, it's overcast and we have high winds. All this mess will head East after it's finished with us, so look out!
No offense kachina, and not to be argumentative... but I grew up in Colorado, spent 35 years there, have seen most of it, including Alamosa. 7500' is not considered "high desert" in all of the state. Also, there were times that we got big snow in Colorado in May, and even once when I was little it snowed the first week of June. So, spring snow in Colorado is certainly not unusual. One day it could be warm and sunny, the next day, snow. I am now in Kansas, not much different... we had high 70's and low 80's the last few days... now it has turned gray and gloomy and we are supposed to get snow tonight into tomorrow. I truly believe some of the unusual weather patterns are due to global warming, but there is nothing strange about crazy spring weather.
