To say the officials were awful is generous. They were worse than that! Taking back a pass interference penalty after it was announced and marched off is unheard of. Then letting the Cowboy offensive line mug the Lion defensive players while calling very marginal calls against the Lions is a bit absurd. On one play where a Lion defensive back was called for holding a Cowboy, a Cowboy offensive lineman (their right tackle) had been beaten by a Lion defender and the offensive lineman grabbed him around the neck and held him with his arm wrapped around the Lion's neck and that wasn't called. It was as blatant an offensive holding penalty as you'll ever see and it wasn't called. The officials handled that game badly and will get horrible grades for it, but that won't help the Lions any. Congrats to the Cowboys, but they'd better hope they can take those same officials to Green Bay with them.

I agree the calls against the Lions were something else. Cowboys should have been called on pass interference among others. Go Lions.

I am an Eagles fan. My husband I watched the game just because we enjoy football. What is so sad about this game was the pass interference call that was later picked up. The cowboys got a huge break. Detroit dominated the game up to this bad call by the officials. Something needs to be done to improve the officiating.

Yep, officiating sometimes isn't great. I've seen it in both college football and NFL. And I think the referee's in general hate the Tennessee Titans more than anyone else in the NFL.

My son says, yep they'll lose in Green Bay . . .

Fortunately, no matter what the score will be, Cowboys won. We're playing with House Money @ this point. Just getting to the playoffs was a success. This morning, sports radio is great here in Dallas!

I wasn't watching that closely and saw the play, the flag and then it was 4th & 1.

I always thought the other team had to "protest" a call and then it goes to official review. I'm more of a casual viewer and usually rely on the more expertise of my husband and son on specifics as to rules and especially differences between college & NFL.

Checked and Sports Illustrated article said:

After the game, Lions head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters the explanation he got for the picked-up flag was "not good enough."

Referee Pete Morelli conducted an interview with a pool reporter after the game and said the following about the call:

“The back judge flew his flag for pass interference," Morelli said. "We got other information from another official from a different angle that thought the contact was minimal and didn’t warrant pass interference. He thought it was face-guarding.”

Morelli subsequently clarified that it was the head linesman who made the overruling call and emphasized that face-guarding was illegal in college football but legal in the NFL. Morelli also said that the officials "probably" should have waited to initially announce the penalty until they had discussed it together.

As a Packer fan I'm betting Jerry Jones is flying them on his jet. Remember Romo is from WI so playing in the cold won't bother him. I think the high will be around 19 on Sun....balmy!!
