@sharkeThe videos were taken on the Australian farm where Knickers resides-by ABC Australia.

I doubt they fudged the video.

What was discussed was that Knickers was huge but not so over the top for his breed of Holstein.

Putting him next to other breeds of course make him more ginormous.

Remembering somebody calling him a fake isn't proof it was.

Yeesh.

@WendyLouHooFrom what I read it's a horse and cow experience.

$300 for 2 people for 90 minutes at a farm in upstate New York.

Yes, equine is for a horse, of course. (Ugh, Mr. Ed)  lol

This week, a Holstein by the name of Knickers captured the heart of the Internet by standing horns and shoulders above a herd of cattle on a farm in Australia.

And there’s no arguing that the lad is large.

At the shoulder, Knickers stands a mighty 6’4”, which means he’s two inches taller than Arnold Schwarzenegger. And he weighs roughly 2,800 pounds, which is the approximate equivalent of 14-and-a-half Danny DeVitos.

Which is to say, Knickers is big. But also that his bigness is relative to whatever he is being compared to.

“This story needs some perspective,” said Aniek Bouwman, an expert in animal breeding and genomics at Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

For starters, she said, it’s important to note that Knickers is not a cow but a steer, and that males are typically quite a bit larger than females. (Note: Only females that have had at least one calf are referred to as “cows” in cattle circles.) But his breed is also important, Bouwman said.

Male Holsteins tend to top out at just under 6 feet in height, while other breeds, like the wagyu cattle that surround Knickers in the now-famous photos of him, usually come in under 4.5 feet. In other words, Knickers is a large specimen, but he looks larger because he’s standing among a herd of Danny DeVitos, not a herd of Arnold Schwarzeneggers.

In this image made from video taken Nov. 15, Knickers the steer is shown in a paddock with a cow herd in Lake Preston, Australia. The enormous steer in the state of Western Australia has avoided the abattoirs by being too big. The 6-foot-4 bovine is believed to be the tallest in the country and weighs about 1.4 tons, local media reported. (Channel 7's Today Tonight via AP)

Age is also a factor. Knickers is seven years old, which is rather long in the tooth for a steer. The animals with which he was pictured are all around one year old, his owner told the New York Times.

Re: Cow Cuddling-its real

Awe. Cows are wonderful. When raised with lots of humane contact they are known as big dogs and love to be loved - especially neck scratches! I’ve had some beautiful experiences at animal sanctuaries, was including a steer falling asleep with his head on my lap. As Americans we tend to think of only cats and dogs as loving sentient beings. So incorrect! Pigs also! And goats..... sensitive topic for me. Humans really are pathetic and cruel sometimes.

Cattle are not generally raised as pets.  I've worked with a herd and my prominent memory is of snot, flies, and manure.

And lots of antibiotics.

As much as I love animals I don't think I'd cuddle a cow...ya never know when they might "unload" on you....😆

Re: Cow Cuddling-its real

this may be true,

my family had relatives who lived in the country.when we would visit them (I was 10 yrsold or so) , i was told to stay away from the cows because they would stomp on you if you got to close.

To this day i have that thought and remember it clearly made a lasting effect on me.

I would agree this must be a trained cow to do this kind of help.
