Actually, it isn't all made in China any longer. Many different countries contribute now so I think they take the easy road and just call it imported so they can cover all the bases.

I really get picky when it comes to food and my animals food and I won't buy it if its "imported" other than a few condiments.

When I was selecting dog food, I called manufacturers and asked about the use of imported components. I ended up with Merrick which is made in Amarillo, Tx. The only imported ingredients they use are some venison and lamb from Australia and New Zealand. Those countrys' export requirements are stricter than our import requirements.

I agree...I was looking at the Lenox flatware and it said imported. I would like to know where it is imported from before I buy it.

VietNam.

One poster said she purchased a holiday TSV hoping to use it for her special dinners and was horrified when she set her table and the ""VietNam"" on the knife blade stared back at her.

This just underlines the point for me - war is stupid. War -What is it good for? Absolutely nothing! (say it again).

how does one get around this on ebay? I HATE when it's US but dear knows from where, grrrrrrr

If it's important to you then email the seller and ask. You can go so far as to ask them to send you a pic.

Items like Waterford may have different countries of mfg/origin based on how old the item is or the line produced. So I ask questions!!

I used to buy Waterford for a friend (back in the early 80's) and loved the line. When I found out recently that much if it is outsourced to other countries now, I was very disappointed. I don't own any of my own, but if I was buying, I'd want it from Ireland for crying out loud! I wondered just how they were able to start selling some of it so inexpensively on one of the other networks, and then I figured it out.

imported doesn't always mean 'made in china.' there are quite a few cosmetic lines that are sold on qvc which read imported and are made in france, korea or the u.k.

i think qvc is just lazy. :=)

Sadly, I don't think it is produced in Ireland at all any longer. I think the only think left of Waterford there is their showroom and tour. I don't know whether they could not afford to keep going or perhaps were running out of trained artisans.
