Count Your Blessings - Friday

We don't choose how or when we will die, but we do decide how we will live.

Lord, forgive my frequent drifting and help me to see clearly the best path

for me.

Scripture for the day:

"The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to

sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens-- wakens my ear

to listen as those who are taught." ~Isaiah 50:4

Meditation for the day:

My five senses are my means of communication with the material world.

They are the links between my physical life and the material manifestations

around me. But I can sever all connections with the material world when I

wish to hold communion with God. I can hush my mind and bid all my senses

be still, before I can become attuned to communicate with the God who

created me and loves me so much.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may get my spirit in tune with the Spirit of God. I pray that

through faith and communion with God I may receive all the strength I need.

Hello my friends! Today 's blessings was that we didn't get more than 10 inches of snow and that it stopped snowing in the afternoon. Another blessing was an email from my niece and Godchild, and the 3rd blessing was we got someone on line signed up for the CD of the Month Club for Lighthouse! We'll try to get more and more of these - the CD's are only $5.00 a month, very good teachings every month. Our last CD was on the 9 choirs of Angels. We've had this for 4 years already getting a new CD every month. That's very affordable and we look forward to it every month. If anyone here would like to have this, just email me and we can have this done. Check out LighthouseCatholicMedia and see what it's all about.

Today a nice stand filled with some CD's came in the mail that my husband ordered to display at a fund raiser for a parish 1/2 hour away from here Sunday. It's a breakfast fund-raiser with a silent auction and he'll try to sell the CD of the Month Club. Prayers, please for his success in this business. Praying for all of you, thanks for your prayers for us.

THE MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother. To thee do I come, before thee I kneel, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer them. Amen.

Once a church had fallen upon hard times. Only five members were left: the pastor and four others, all over 60 years old.

In the mountains near the church there lived a retired Bishop. It occurred to the pastor to ask the Bishop if he could offer any advice that might save the church. The pastor and the Bishop spoke at length, but when asked for advice, the Bishop simply responded by saying, "I have no advice to give. The only thing I can tell you is that the Messiah is one of you."

The pastor, returning to the church, told the church members what the Bishop had said. In the months that followed, the old church members pondered the words of the Bishop. "The Messiah is one of us?" they each asked themselves. As they thought about this possibility, they all began to treat each other with extraordinary respect on the off chance that that one among them might be the Messiah.

And on the off, off chance that each member himself might be the Messiah, they also began to treat themselves with extraordinary care. As time went by, people visiting the church noticed the aura of respect and gentle kindness that surrounded the five old members of the small church. Hardly knowing why, more people began to come back to the church.

They began to bring their friends, and their friends brought more friends. Within a few years, the small church had once again become a thriving church, thanks to the Bishop's gift.

Treat others and yourself with love, and you will find yourself and the people around you better for it.

I Didn't Listen

I didn't listen to the Lord,

When He told me not to hoard.

I stored up all my earthly goods.

I even hid some in the woods.

I went out to dig my treasure.

Somehow, I thought it would be pleasure.

Some of these riches, I'd forgotten.

I dug them up. But, they were rotten.

That's what I get for tempting God

And burying my riches in the sod.

He said, "Earthly things you cannot trust.

Don't store your treasures where they'll rust.

Store all your treasures up in heaven.

You'll be rewarded seven times seven.

To earthly riches pay no mind.

They can't compete with the spiritual kind."

He said, "Spiritual riches, are all you need.

Forget about your earthly greed.

Material things you cannot trust,

For they will only rot and rust."
