Yeah, this is a big one for me.  I couldn't try to sell you something that I found lacking in quality, or some of the things they are saying about it are just not true.  I'm not going to do that!

If I sell something it would have to be something that I would buy because I think it's good quality, worth the money, and no hidden problems.

Plus, believe it or not, I'm not that big of a talker so to go on and on about something would be just too far for me.  I don't do flowery speech so what I say I need to mean and I like to keep it concise.

I imagine it's not the easiest job.

@allaries

One thing I knew I was not, decades ago, was a retail salesman. Now I have privately sold many of my own, and my wife's cars, but!

I knew every detail of each vehicle that was important to potential buyers. How/Why? Because I wrangled with many new car salesmen and Sales Managers for each and every new car I bought, for myself or my wife or good friends. Probably 25 "ordered" new cars.

Every car I owned was kept in top running and mechanical condition, along with my never being involved in an accident, to this day. I knew the price worth of each vehicle I sold and that was my FIRM price, take it or leave it.

Other item as a retail spokesperson or salesman? Not within my character. One has to pretend/push the truth, even make up terms when necessary to be successful, and that would never be a gig I would ever want.

@shaggygirl @Haha, made me laugh! But she actually didn't have a family back then. As she tells the story she was young and still living at home. She remembers talking about all the things you can do with a pencil; draw a picture, write a letter, create a novel, etc.  pretty creative!

Oh I think I Could totally be a host! I can talk.....I mean really talk when I need to. I think it'd be fun to be a host. Some items would be a little harder to talk about than others, but I would do my homework and be prepared. I think home decorations would be the hardest for me. Everything else? Easy!

I only watch certain "fashion" shows.

There's no way I could stand up there and sell that stuff, or have to work with certain vendors.

I would refuse to jiggle the clothes and stretch the fabrics.

I wouldn't wear high heel shoes with pants or put shoes on my bare feet.

I wouldn't change my clothes every few minutes, nor claim that clothes were fresh or chic and you would look amazing wearing them.

Some of the hosts sound absolutely frantic - like their lives depended on you purchasing THIS item RIGHT NOW.

Maybe it is because they are worried about hitting sales figures in order to continue to provide for their families.

MOST of the hosts are SO hard sell. MAJOR TURN OFF. With the high salaries the hosts make, I HIGHLY DOUBT they would have a hard time providing for their families.

I watched the Muk Luks socks presentations for HOURS this a.m.

Woke up a little after 5 and turned on the TV.  It was an *encore* show of the Muk Luks.

Dozed off.

Woke up again and they repeated the encore show of the Muk Luks.

(I saw the Muk Luk's ladies cat crash the scene twice.)

Dozed off, again.

Woke up and it was the Morning Show.  Muk Luks, again.

Dozed off, again.

@layla2450

A FB post came up today with Antonella Nester -- topic "Thought you ought to know where you're money (donations) were spent"..peaked my interest as she has had "go fund site", paetron site and other social media sites you pay to watch.

So I headed over to YouTube to watch this video. She had undergone cancer therapy and interestingly enough in video she states "many think why do they need $ she was a host on QVC?"  She stated "not everyone gets paid well as a host, gets benefits, etc. & I was one of the lower paid hosts".

That surely surprised me because I thought they all made big $$.

When they let her go it's apparent they were not expecting this (her spouse lost his job too) -- she explains it very well.

So, bottom line sales must equal salary.

@Lucky Charm.   You know they repeat the midnight show many times throughout the night, right?   That's why it's called an encore.  If you see the 12:00-1:00am ET showing, you're good until 7:00 or 8:00am ET.  After that, the presentations are different and live.

I guess some people are just made to 'sell'. At least the hosts get to sell many different things (not just one category or one item like a jewelry store or a car lot). Most times they only have to come up with three to seven minutes for a product, and if they are good at their job, and if they learn the product well, it shouldn't be hard to do.

It's like any other job, if you really like what you do, it isn't that hard to do.

Could I do it? I don't know. I know I could sell the products that I really loved and used and believed in. Not sure I could be effective on the other stuff though.
