No.  Then I would not have that many. I buy only what I need.

Even though I go through my closet periodically and pull things out for Goodwill, I would still have no problem coming up with 20 items.

I don't live the kind of lifestyle that requires clothes to be hung up.  I probably have less than 20 things hung in the closet.

Jeans, tee shirts and sweaters make up the major portion of my wardrobe.  It's a rare occasion that I need a dress, skirt or dressy pants.

I go through my closet at least twice a year and pull things to donate. Since I go through and thin it out often it would take me a bit to find those 20 items to part with.

Re: Could you do it?

[ Edited ]

To be honest, I couldn't. I purge all the time and have a shopping bag always set up in our office to put donations in, but I have purged my clothes, shoes and purses down to the items I really use or they're new and I will wear them this spring and summer. I donate clothing and household items heavily year round, but no, I couldn't round that many items up.

Last week I donated 4 pairs of shoes and two tops and I'm at a good level now.

I sort of follow the Konmari method of decluttering and she teaches you to keep what brings you joy and that's pretty much what I'm down to when it comes to clothing, shoes and purses.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I have three big bags and one bag of shoes ready to go. Do this three or four times a year. Sometimes it's just two bags.

If you had to pull out and get rid of 20 items out of your clothes closet right now... could you do it easily or would it be hard to choose?

For me it would take a bit, but I think I could do it.

I believe I am the exception to the rule in that I don't have an overabundance of clothing. I wear what I have & I don't keep things I am not wearing. I'd be hurting for things to wear if I did as you suggest.

I do this, too. I regularly donate (not just clothes but other things, too) and take things to consignment. If I'm not loving & using it someone else might as well be.

I've already donated and purged  a lot of my clothing and shoes, but am still in process.  So "yes" I could easily get rid of twenty items, probably more.

I'd prefer not to.
