My Dh and I are considering going to a cash only basis. 

In todays world, can one live without credit cards..??

You can not rent a car with out one

I'm sure you can ,but carrying a load of cash around all the time must get tiresome

I would, perhaps ,not use them ,but I would never get rid. I would use them often enough to keep them active, just in case you ever are caught in an emergency ,and need some quick cash

I’m a big online shopper. Need a credit card for that as I won’t use my debit card. 

I do use cash quite a bit, but for renting cars, reserving hotel rooms, etc., you need a credit card. 

I would never give up my credit cards.

My mother never had a credit card.

She believes as some do if you can't pay for something, don't buy it.

I have one main card I use.

I pay it off every month on time.

My dh hardly uses them, he’s had id stolen, I use them constantly. Balance is paid off at end of month.

Absolutely not!  You need cc to rent a car, to book hotels.  I have two and when I use them i pay them off.

There was a time when that could be done, but not so much anymore.  JMO

In the middle 70's dh and I flew to florida for our honeymoon.  We did not have a credit card and spent hours at the airport trying to rent a car.  Eventually they let us have it....when we got home we both got credit cards.

really no reason at all to live without them unless spending is out of control.
