Re: Could You live Without any credit cards

How would one shop online without a cc??  Granted there are still money orders and personal or bank checks but those are a hassel.

We do pay cash when shopping in person.

The time is coming when cash will be obsolete anyway, so some type of card for shopping will be needed.

Re: Could You live Without any credit cards

If this was the 1970’s, I could live without credit cards, as my husband and I were married nearly 10 years before we had any.    We only have 2 cards, because we must use them for certain payments, such as our DirecTV bill.   I do not believe you can get by without at least 1 or  2 cards.

Even my 83 year old mother needed to get a credit card after my dad passed!

Ramsey says a debit card will work for renting a car. I really do not know.

As of right now, yes we could.

We have no immediate plans to travel, rent a car or make a major purchase.

What a good topic!

Yes I could, however, I choose to use them. I did recently see a sign in my doctor's office that they will no longer accept cash for payment or checks, I would be screwed if I only had cash to pay.

Re: Could You live Without any credit cards

My co-pays on my meds can run over $500.00 a month. I would need to go to the bank make a cash withdrawal, waste gas and never mind losing the rewards on my Am-Ex. Paying everything monthly, I use credit cards to our advantage. Convenience and rewards...last year got back more than $800.00 on one card where they give you 75% more if you deposit your cash rewards into your savings or checking account.

Going back to cash? Never...

yes until I learned about "cash reward" cards here.

I always used cash or my debit.  I switched to a cc and pay everything with it & pay it off every month.  It was nice to get that check in the mail and put it towards something I wanted.

But, i could live without using daily yet need it for booking airlines, renting car, etc.

Re: Could You live Without any credit cards

No.  I need/want one for unexpected expenses - car/home repairs, etc.  Also, I'm on a specialty medication that is very expensive at the beginning of the year until I reach my deductible, so I have to charge it.
