Re: Could You Turn Your Child In

I remember shopping with my mother, I must have been 9 or 10. I separated from her and passed by candies you buy by the pound. I took one and a salesperson told me I was stealing (yes I took a hard candy but it wasn't like I stole the hope diamond)! Well she found my mother and lectured her, I never did it again. Another time I put money in one of the gum ball type machines and got a toy that came in like an egg. I put it in my pocket. A salesperson asked me what I had in my pocket and to show her. This is illegal as you must wait for someone to leave a store (they can always say I was going to pay for it). If my father had been with me he would have sued them for falsely accusing me!

If my son  stole something I would make him take it back but to the dressing room and walk out...........he would have taken it back and it would have to make him nervous taking it back.

@DowntonAbbey

Kinda like someone who steals your car who later decides to return the car to you. He/she is nervous so!  No crime, no foul?  Not in my view or the law.
