All of my sheets are 100% cotton (except for my polar fleece sheets) and I'm wondering how the cotton/poly feels and wears?

When I think of polyester, I think of a material that is not that breathable.

Any thoughts or testimonials?

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

Not sure about "poly" sheets, but I bought a set of microfiber - is that poly? Anyway, they feel just wonderful...silky and smooth. But they are SOOO hot to sleep between. I just can't use them - even in winter.

Now when I shop I have to read the description very closely to be sure when it says something like "cotton feel" or cotton-like, that they aren't actually microfiber. So many are!

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

I have had both. I prefer the blend because it is long wearing. On the other side, the blend is not as soft. In fact, it can be sort of rough.

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

I think the blend helps decrease wrinkling. The length of the cotton threads speaks more to quality than anything, including thread count.

Apparently, the terms Pima and Percale are key in choosing best all-cotton sheets. Whether those terms are used in blends, I don't know. It always seems like a gamble when buying sheets.

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

Polyester & microfiber are the same. Made of nylon. For sheets, it helps with wrinkling and fast drying. However, Percale cotton sheets, not those made in China, are the best. Some would say Egyptian cotton R the very best. Blends do keep the cost down.

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

i pretty much only buy microfiber (poly) sheets now.....easy to care for, feels almost like silk, and very few wrinkles on the bed or out of the dryer. hsn has recently had a set of two microfiber sheets at a very low price (2 flat, 2 fitted, 4 pillow cases). they are from their concierge collection.

i would never buy all cotton sheets anymore.

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

Oh how I wish they made sheets today like they used to. I have some very old cotton/poly sheet sets that are just fantastic.......love them, and some are getting a little on the thin side..... Will be sorry when they are worn out.

I do have some pillow cases that I use instead of the ones that come with the sets. I find they are not hot at all, and feel very cool when I turn over to the pillow beside me.

I have been told you can buy the poly/cotton sheets at Penny's and BB&B. When I am needing some new sheets, will check them out.

I do have one set of sheets I got at Dillard's when I worked there, and they are just wonderful and do not wrinke......the are the Nobility brand from there. All cotton. And oh so soft.......

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

My favorite sheets are my Fieldcrest Charisma 310 tc Supima Cotton. I have had two sets for about 20 years and they are still going strong. They feel smooth and cool to the touch

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

Thanks everyone......I was checking out the TTV over ShopHQ. I'm still not sure about the blends.

I have a set of all cotton, 800 TC single ply (they rarely, if ever mention the ply now) sheets from ShopNBC....jacquard stripes....that are amazing. I got them on clearance and paid very little for them.....my favorite sheet set.

Re: Cotton/Poly Sheets Question

I've gotten several sets of sheets from ShopHQ and they've all been beyond awful. The cotton/poly sheets were a wrinkled mess out of the dryer. I've gotten microfiber ones and they are too big and won't stay on the bed. The micro fleece were so thin I could watch TV through them. I wouldn't take more of their linens if they sent them to me free!
