When I wanted to stop using my Costco AMEX, I just transferred all my charges I'd been doing through that card to another reward card.

I also accepted AMEX's offer for a new card with different benefits  and I've already earned more on that new card than I did in my last two years on the Costco card!  All the rewards are slightly different as we move from card to card and we need to think how we spend money -  just knowing how others spend and what their rewards were doesn't necessarily work for everybody.

I have yet to see the new Citi/Costco offer, so I have no idea whether I'll use their card.  I've been using Costco so little that I may even decide to drop my Costco membership this summer when it expires.

I know what you mean Millieshops.  With just the two of us we don't buy in bulk.  The protections and concierge service on our electronic purchases keep us at costco, seems like a poor reason to keep the membership.

Even though it's mostly "just the two of us", I think there is much about Costco to keep our membership active.

Same here @JeanLouiseFinch! There is just the two of us but we buy alot from Costco- tons of fruits and veggies, dog supplies and beds, chia seeds, drinks, TP, Paper towels, books, clothes, housewares, vitamins, beauty supplies like cotton pads, toothpaste, etc I don't do all my shopping there but I certainly shop there at least a few times a month for just the two of us. Since they change some of their things often, I think it is fun to go in and see what is new. I got my Vitamix from there for a WAY better price than you can get anywhere else! Love that thing!

@HappyDaze  Yep.  I got my Vitamix there as well - brand new from the factory, not a refurb.  We feed our dog the Nature's Domain dry dog food that's a Costco exclusive and have been buying the Kirkland version of Greenies the last couple of months and he loves them.  Eye exams, eyeglasses, tires, Christmas tree, plants, some office supplies, clothing items, mattress sets, computer printer, postage stamps, books, DVD's, gasoline.  Costco has a lot to offer.   Like you, I'm there a couple of times a month, sometimes more.

I am waiting for this to happen.  I get pre-approved offers weekly from AMEX wanting me to continue with them.  I have received alot of free merchandise from Costco thanks to this card.

@DiAnne  I am not aware of any free merchandise from Costco.  Do you care to share?

@Hoovermom

I was just referring to the items I purchased with the rebates.  I turn the rebates into gift cards and wait until there is something I really want.  Sorry to mislead you.

Re: Costco AMEX to Be Replaced with Citigroup Visa in May/June

I got my mailer today. Though I buy my gas at Costco and the 4% rebate sounds great, I don't drive that much. My SO travels a bit and might only be getting 1% on some of his purchases.

"Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases. You will only get 1% cashback, not 4%, for gas purchased at superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs other than Costco or for fuel used for non-automobile purchases."

That just about eliminates every other place around here.

I'm still looking forward to the card with 3% on restaurants, and 2% at Costco warehouse and online. Smiley Wink

Re: Costco AMEX to Be Replaced with Citigroup Visa in May/June

Got my spiffy little mailer today, too.  Reiterated all the benefits, plus said they were not going to be pulling credit reports for the transition.  It looked like a standard mailer, so I assumed this is true for most.

Gave the timelines for the card mailings, usage, etc.  Looks like Costco is really going to come out a winner on this one!
