I hope this is only the beginning...these men just can't get away with what they've been doing to women!!!!
The best news I heard today!!
@sunala Best news I heard today was that one of my patients is finally cancer free!!! Now that's good news. Your news isn't.
It's not good news that a rapist of dozens of women is going to pay for it?
He wasn't convicted of rape.
He was convicted of sexual assault.
Again, is it not good news that he is going to pay for that?
@QueenDanceALot no where did I say it wasn't good news that he's going to pay for his crime. In fact I mentioned up thread that I have no opinion whatsoever on his guilt or innocence. I'm just stating the facts from a legal perspective, and that is he wasn't convicted of rape. I'm just stating the truth. There is a difference b/w rape and aggravated indecent assault in the court system.
O.K.

@DJs mom wrote:Because he isn't a threat to the public so he has a right to bail. In PA the only crime that is automatically denied bail is 1st degree murder. The rest is at the judge's discretion. of course attorneys can also appeal the judge's decison on bail.
@DJs mom, thanks for fact checking the thread. Your legal knowledge is appreciated.
I just googled Florida, where I live. Short statute of limitations on rape, longer if a weapon is used. I assume roofies do not count as a weapon. Disgraceful.
Every state should have no statute of limitations on rape.

@Another new name Sue, his life is not miserable enough to suit me or the dozens of his victims or a lot of other people.

@LoriLori I just hate when people get so caught up in their emotions that they spread untruths. Interesting about roofies...they may be considered an aggravating factor.

Sexual assault or rape. Neither is allowed. Both are bad. Many sexually assaulted women don't ever tell or come forward....especially if they were very young. That is not uncommon. A few brave women stepped up to the plate and the rest followed their courageous move. They probably knew their names and reputations would be dragged through the mud. Of course, there will always be gold diggers....but remember....there were 62 (I think) women. That would be a lot of liars. If even one of them is telling the truth he is guilty.
It's not up to me what his sentence will be or bail. He has hurt a lot of women. He still denies it. That makes me trust him even less. He is a sick man. I hope, before he dies, he makes peace with himself and his maker. I pray he does.

Sheesh, New York also has a statute of limitations. This needs to change.
I repeat: The Golden State Killer raped at least 56 girls and women, some of whom he killed, we will probably find out more, in the 1970s and 1980s -- hank goodness Californians had the sense to do away with the statute of limitations on rape..

No matter what the legal system calls it. If you are a woman who has been raped the legal system can call it "sexual assault" from now until the end of time and you still know you were raped.
Now everyone knows he's a rapist.

Looks like he put on a good act of being feeble all during the trial and now, after being convicted, he practically sprints out of the courtroom, holding his arm high.
I'd call him a pig, but I don't want to insult pigs.
