@Tinkrbl44 : Tens of thousands of people had nothing to do on a Saturday morning and needed entertaining? Your way of thinking is quite entertaining!

It's always amusing to hear the so called "righteous" supposedly on the side of the poor lecture about how money could better be used.

Yet that will not stop them from buying a new overpriced phone to make technology Ceos super rich, or post online in a forum to make the social media Ceos more rich, or watch a sports game to help support overpaid athletes, or download a song to make a pop musician able to afford private planes.

We are not part of the British society, and monarchy is one of their most ancient and important historic customs.  It is their CHOICE to fund and pay for and support the monarchy, just like we pay through the nose for silly events like the Super Bowl, World Series, etc., etc.

Every country that has done away with their monarchy now uses all those buildings as museums and tourists and locals pay every day to visit.  Royalty was created by humans, and is a part of world history.  We still give special status today to too many other people who definitely do not deserve it.

The only way to do away with poverty is for people to stop waging war and violence, and work toward equality, peace and prosperity for all.  Money does not solve issues of hatred.  Learn a bit more about history before making statements that have no value in reality.

Exactly.  People had nothing better to do on a Saturday morning in the rain than to stand waiting for hours to see a coronation that according to some is no longer necessary.

Uh, you can't possibly think that there is no "entertainment" factor involved there.

If you've ever seen the massive amount of gossip rags in England, and how many "royal" stories (true or untrue) come out weekly, they are feeding the monster,  Doesn't matter if it's Kate and Anne are feuding, or Sophie gave birth to an alien baby, the Brits want to read about it.  The stories are non-stop.

To me, that's a form of entertainment.  What would you call it?

This is an easy one to answer : Support of the King and Monarchy. I don't know what the gossip rag magazines have to do with the coronation . Stay on topic if your going to comment.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

No matter what our views are about the coronation, royals in any country, sports franchises, entertainment, politicians etc. I would hope that all would wish that there was less suffering for so many in our world.

I greatly admire billionaires who give so much and of their time as well-

Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Rob Hale from Boston, MacKenzie Scott, Bill and Melinda Gates-a huge list.

It doesn't mean that people shouldn't enjoy what their money can give them at all.Their are so many good people in the world.

And you don't need to read all about history to have empathy and compassion for your neighbor, your children, or even yourself who are struggling every day to live .

None of us knows the circumstances of us on these forums. We should never assume that we think all here have means or haven't been through every aspect of financial distress or the opposite and still found time to care about others. Each and every one of us.

Please don't flatter yourself , you don't offend me ! And one more time as YOU just stated , " it's about the Coronation and the Royals " . Not the gossip rag magazines .
