The best treads are controversial and off topic....such a shame that they are not allowed.
I don't feel they would be if everyone had respect for other's opinions and also made their points civilly. One can disagree on things without having to attack one another "PERSONALLY!
Just my opinion,

@hckynutjohn, thank you! "Personally" being the key word!! I've been ripped twice now by two posters, of which I think they are the same person (another story for another day).. Yes Personally because of one's opinion or apology.. All it takes is one to ruin an entire thread that was even fun!

Suggestion - the refugees can relocate to North Korea.

John - I think in any theoretical world that would be true, but I feel right now as if I'm living in a world where facts do not matter, where getting a laugh matters more than logic, and I'm not expecting good changes in the months ahead because those without responsibility are shouting much louder than those who wear that mantle - and it's easy to solve poroblems when you're not restrained by responsibility as the moderators are.

This isn't true. Yes some people left for one reason or another and some people post on other boards besides this one and I don't understand what the problem is with that. I also don't understand why those who also post on other boards are considered to be the ones who bullied people and got into cat fights.
There is plenty of that still going on here. Look at all the posts and threads that are moved because they are controversial, mean, etc. Last week there was a thread on another part of this board, calling out to the moderators, asking them to do something about some controversial posts in this part of the board.
I've always enjoyed a lot of the posters on this board and learned a lot. And there are also those posters I don't enjoy. This hasn't changed and won't change.
This board has always been moderated. It just wasn't as heavily moderated as it is now. NOW I often feel like I'm in grade school with some of the heavy handed moderation.

Yet another thread just closed, because some want it that way,so they post remarks that will get it closed.

Here's a novel idea --
When a poster with something "nasty" to say comes in, do you all think you could simply ignore it? I know I can. Imagine if every person was able to ignore it. The thread would move on. But alas, egos do get in the way and people cannot control themselves to be silent. Try doing it next time someone presses your buttons. :-)

In life bullies are the ones who run off people, then look for "new targets". Since discussions are still being closed I would say that there are some bullies still here.

I do this often, not one of those who feels the need to have the last word. However, when a poster accuses me of misquoting a source or twists my words to suit their whim, I respond. Integrity, not ego, requires it.

That is true, both sides have their ideology and only care about convincing people that they're right.
