Stay home whenever possible. 12,137,341 tickets sold in US for just Powerball on 3/18.
Not all these buyers only bought tickets during the same trip as they shopped for necessary groceries. Sorry I don't have Florida stats, or stats from lotteries other than Powerball. Of course, many buyers buy more than one ticket. These in-person interactions are steep and unnecessary.

How is buying a lottery ticket any worse than shopping in crowded supermarkets, target,
or anything place people are getting what they need.
I lived in NV for 24 years where there is no lottery at all. When I am grocery shopping I buy a lottery ticket. There is not much to look forward to right now. I see no harm if a person buys a ticket when they are getting their necessities.

Most people buy lottery tickets at places that are already open for other reasons.
these businesses are staying open to serve all of us. If they make a few extra $$$ from their lottery sales, it's well deserved

Ummm...lottery tickets can be purchased on-line. No need to go to the store.

I had stated in a earlier post casino was still open.
Well...just heard the casino closed ...I agree with this as 99% of the weekly customers are seniors .
I believe the governor had to do something to do with this as earlier in week they stated they did not "have to close".
Just updating ....

That's nuts.
Most lottery tickets are sold in supermarkets and convenience stores, anyway, which remain open.
Who cares what they're buying?

I think DeSanctis has better things to deal with!!!
But, why would they...each ticket sold the retailer gets 3-5 cents (i've been told)...considering the amount spent daily on lottery that's big $$$$ for retailers!
Lets put it in perspective -- my casino host called me earlier in the week to remind me I had a promo offer ($100 gc) and they are open. I'm sure there are a lot of people there ...esp. sr citizens.
I think you need to turn the tv off for awhile ...relax. Use home delivery if you are this concerned.
By the way, I went to Publix today - it was mobbed and frankly, looked like any other day except the shelves & meat, bread, milk case were semi-bare!
(My pet peeve right now is the way stores are handling the "necessities", ie, wipes, tp, tissues, etc. -- if you go during SR hours you get it BUT later in the day forget it!)
@homedecor1 I went during senior hour this morning and not a roll of TP was to be found!
I heard the seniors are lining up to shop early (some physically handicapped, arranged rides, etc) only to be upset by the fact there are none of the "necessities" they need. A lady here is asking for donations for a few really in need -- I wish I had the things they needed I'd give it in a minute.

@Bri369 Every person that makes less contacts helps to flatten the curve. Thousands of people go out to buy their tickets each week. If they stayed home it would add to lessen the stress on resources from the illnesses they get or spread to others. It seems like a small thing, but it's not.
You do realize that people can buy their lottery tickets when they are already out getting other things, right?
Hmmm, maybe not.
Since you know that people are out buying lottery tickets, that must mean that you are watching them buy tickets, which mean that you are out and about.
Why aren't you home sheltering in place, instead of being out, and spying on what people are buying?

People are dying. States are shutting down. The lottery is not a concern for him.
It is a small thing. Let's try to keep things in perspective.
People are still going out to get necessities. They can and should be able to get their lottery tickets. Many are sold online.
