While Wegman's does put items on sale for the entire month for lower prices than Shop-Rite, in general their every day prices are higher. Because I do not use most of their specialty areas, I find the store a bit overwhelming. I do like the fact that you can buy liquor at Wegman's. Before we'd have to make a separate trip to a liquor store.
When Wegman's first came to our area, it was such a novelty. I remember friends saying they went to Wegman's just for the experience. They made meals out of the many samples available.
They just had an Italian Day at our store...samples in every department.
I just love those days!

I love Fred Meyer! I just spent three and a half hours there yesterday.

Wegman's is the only thing I miss about living in Northern VA. We do have a brand new Publix about 2 miles away, and I like it, but it's just not Wegman's
I agree with the poster who said it's a shopping experience! Their meats, seafood, fruits and veggies can't be beat.
The farthest South I've seen them is Charlottesville, VA, or maybe Fredericksburg. I'm hoping they'll continue southward.

I love Wegman's there is not one close to me, but I had a chance to go when one opened near a place that I worked awhile back. I could wonder around in there for hours!! Pretty pricey though. Beautiful store!!

i am about 6 miles away from our wegmans, but maybe only go a couple of times a year. i dont find their pricing to be competitive AND i usually buy MORE than i need.....not such a good thing either.
it was a big hit for me when it first opened, but i rarely go now.
my favorite upscale market is THE FRESH MARKET. excellent selection of unique items, great produce, great selection of coffees, teas, and bulk gourmet items. they have a wonderful bakery that is not overwhelming. i like the cheese selections also. it is a lot smaller than wegmans, but so much better to shop in and easier to get in and out of. we also have a few locally owned upscale supermarkets that have excellent items and service.
if there is a fresh market in your area i highly recommend it!

Pleased to see that Wegman's will add new locations in MA. One of these future locations may will be close enough to shop occasionally. I hope Wegman's will give Stop&Shop a good run for the money. Hate Stop&Shop.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Wegmans! What a smorgasbord of culinary delight!
I would agree their prices are good for everyday items...and even some of the specialty items, depending. And the TASTE of the homemade and specialty items cannot be beat! I do agree their produce is probably the freshest (second to a farm stand where they sell next to their garden!) in ANY grocery store around. We always get veggies and fruit there when we want the 'good stuff' and for Holidays! And with very few exceptions, everyone that works there has been super nice in EVERY department. The very few times (maybe 2-3 I can remember) I've had issues with anything, all I had to do was approach a manager and the problem was taken care of lickety split! Probably about 75% of my everyday grocery shopping comes from Wegmans. We're lucky to have 3 that I know of all within a 15-20 min drive. The closest one is about 5 minutes from my home...lucky me!!!!
I'm sure most people also have the store rewards card...that helps a lot when you get coupons in the mail at least once a month! I also get sent their magazine in the mail for free and that has coupons in it too! And usually the coupons are for their specialty items, so that helps! And for the brand name coupons they send, I usually can combine these with my other brand name coupons. Savings!
Fresh Market is also TO DIE FOR in flavor and taste! Although I would agree that that is DEFINITELY more of a 'specialty store'. And it's on a much smaller scale in size and offerings. I'm sure you could do every day grocery shopping there, but it would be a small fortune! Great for those hard to find organic items or specialty items that sometimes even Wegmans doesn't carry.

We don't even have many of the stores on the list in my area. No Wegmans, no Publix, no Sprouts.......
