Sounds like an insecurity to me.

A need for validation on a very regular basis.

And yes, it also sounds very narcissistic.

One of the women I know who posts selfies daily is very "average looking" and doesn't wear a lot of makeup.  She's 50 years old.    I asked her once why she posted so many selfies and she laughed and said..."cause I like to".  I said okey dokey.

And entirely possible, even if puzzling.

I'm sure some of those people posting selfies on their personal social media accounts would wonder why others sit around and post daily on message boards such as this one. Maybe there are other things in my life that would befuddle others looking in. The bottom line for me is that I'm not hurting anyone and I'm doing what I enjoy. So rather than try to diagnose another person's enjoyment, I just say "Why not?"

I think of it as a daily version of the nauseating Christmas brag letters.

Plus, it is only one side of the "picture".

@colliegirls, FB is what you make it. You can enjoy it or make use of it any way that pleases you. But most people have a variety of friends and acquaintances as well as family, and of course not everyone is going to see eye to eye on everything or agree all the time, or like the same type of posts. I'm sure a few of my friends are bored with my posts ;-)

Like @Noel7 my hobby is photography (when I'm healthy enough to roam) and FB is a great outlet for me in that regard. It's also a great source of links to news on all subjects, if you set it up that way.

I have a friend that loves to post photos of herself from 7-10 years ago.

Cracks me up.

I am like c'mon at least stay in the same decade!

You aren't fooling anybody. Smiley LOL

I don't take selfies.  I think you'd really have to be awfully self absorbed.  I take pics of family and friends.  Taking selfies is like standing in front of the mirror all the time - just weird I think.

Our family does the same. We all go on trips and love to view especially when toddler grands see and do things for the first time. We also text group picturea, private group conversations to keep up with family gatherings, upcoming plans and so forth.
None of us put very personal things on Facebook. We use private Facebook messenger to others that we want to send a private response to some others.
I do enjoy Facebook !

A Facebook friend was a lovely young woman and constantly posts pics of herself taken 40 years ago with captions that practically beg for admiring comments. Throw back pictures are fun, especially if they feature the people still in your life, but the one's begging for compliments I tend to scroll past once they become a regular feature.

Then there are friends who post 40 pics of every event they have ever attended.  I have relatively few friends on Facebook and this can get overwhelming; how do people navigate Facebook with hundreds of friends and so much to scroll through.
