Considering a third dog~would like impartial feedback

Our situation: just DH and me in our home. We both work FT. two doggies, 10 yr old neutered Westie(Bert) and 4 yr old spayed LhasaPom (Lola) who is tiny, eight pounds of fluffy fun. They get along well and keep each other company during the day. They are not crated. On my work days I generally get home around 3-3:30. Coworker's rat terrier had babies today, 8 males 1 female. we love small dogs and are considering getting a puppy from her.We draw the line at 3 dogs so if we get another dog that's it. A ratty would meet my criteria as far as size, and low grooming requirements due to short hair. (both our dogs require regular trips to the groomer) My concerns: increased vet bills which are already high. Annual vaccinations, labwork, checkups etc runs around $200 per dog. Plus the high cost of heartworm med and Frontline. Secondly, my Westie is territorial. Even though he's neutered I suspect he wouldn't tolerate another male dog and might display bad behaviors~or am I wrong on this? The additional barking, digging, etc. wouldn't be a big deal as we are used to it. Our back yard looks like the moon's surface. Pro's: I love puppies!!! yes I would love it when it grew up too, lol. I imagine my little LhasaPom might enjoy having a similar sized active dog to play with~she wants to play a LOT but Bert being 10, isn't as interested as he used to be, though Lola tries and tries to engage him. Ok fellow dog lovers, please check in with your opinions.
