This thread is becoming contentious; please stay on topic and not political. Also this thread cannot be used to air grievances between posters please.

@onewhiteSparrow you didn't mind this thread when you were giving your views.  You had a lot to say and said it.  Now, you have a problem?  Views are views and everyone has them.  No one is stopping that.

My point is, really a simple one.   We took combative action against  Germany before Pearl Harbor.

****************************

Drythe, mine is simple, too... mine is the reason we officially entered WW2.  Unfortunately, two sources stating nothing other than dates and the reason were taken down.  How can date facts be controversial?

Anyway, the point is that the war began in 1939 but we did not enter the war until 1941, right AFTER Pearl Harbor.  Both sources, including one from Geo Washington University history department say Pearl Harbor was the reason we entered the war.

There was more from the Holocaust information center, but that truth was also removed.

All of that information is online from academic sources if anyone is interested.

@NoelSeven

April 10, 1941 - USS Niblack (DD 424) used depth charges against a German U-boat while conducting rescue operations of a torpedoed Dutch freighter. This was the first action taken by an American naval vessel against the Axis Powers.

Nov. 6, 1941 - USS Somers (DD 381) and the cruiser USS Omaha (CL 4) captured the Odewald, a German blockade runner, in the central Atlantic. The Odewald was disguised as the American merchantman Willmoto.

Dec. 7, 1941 - The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor

This information was still on my phone from my post last night.  I took it from a TIME/LIFE book at home and can't give you the exact ref. from here.

I believe my facts are correct: no matter WHEN we officially delared war, we took combat action against Germany prior to Pearl Harbor. This in response to your post on this thread #65.

At any rate, we obviously have our own opinions.

There are cats and dogs to clean up, vaccines to give new arrivals, then everyone will need to be fed and those who need it medicated. For me enough time has been accorded to this topic.

@Preds,  I left this topic alone....for days...until I started to read what was said and I noticed one side of a group of people are >again< trying to get Americans to go to war again for them.

If anyone in this forum has a different view saying this is not our war...and adding Americans do not want to go to war >again<  in the Middle East; they get jumped on.

This topic is nothing but trying to get Americans to go to war or do the fighting.

Russian Missiles Fell Short of Syria, Landed in Iran, U.S. Says

Four Russian cruise missiles aimed at antiregime forces in Syria during an aerial assault Wednesday instead landed inadvertently in Iran, U.S. officials said...

Neither Russia nor Iran by late Thursday had commented on the errant missiles.

Drythe,

I'm not sure what your point is.  Mine is: "We did not officially enter the war until after Pearl Harbor."  That's a fact, not an opinion.

The internet has many sources, Wiki would be the easiest and has footnotes and source material.

We're just going around in circles, repeating the same thing, so I will just wish you the best and not continue to restate the same fact over and over Smiley Happy

I am taking about a group of people in this forum.   They are trying to talk us into going to war again.   Most of Americans are sick of wars.

That's pretty much all this forum is.

Do you really think an entire forum should be dedicated only to what you want?

How could we do that for everyone who posts on Chat?

OWS, there is a simple solution to that.

I think it is major agrandizement to think the leaders of this, or any other country develope their military agendas from this BB.  Perhaps I'm just very politically naive.
