It's the Hobby Lobby commercial called "Christmas is What You Make It."

It's looks like it might be some sort of video game equipment, but it's definitely not clear.

And it shouldn't be so revelatory to this late-teen kid that he should be doing the laundry and washing the dirty dishes in the sink to help out, not acting like he did his Mom some huge, humongous favor.

He probably did it for Christmas. He thought about it and realized he hasn't been doing much to help out his mom but that's going to change. He's quite ashamed of his lack of consideration after all she is doing for him. Anyway, I like thinking of it that way. It was huge to him, having not done his part, and this is just letting her know he loves her and will do more from now on.

@Johnnyeager   Looking at this again I do not get the impression he has to be applauded.

If mom cleans up after him while he sleeps on the sofa??  It's been a long time since he became old enough to help out.   Is this a one-time slide for him or is this a pattern?  We don't know.

I think the message is one of giving up something to bring more spirit to the home.

I'm not reading too much into what he does or does not do around the house.

@Judaline   Agree it's about his love for his mother overall.

I'm crazy about those Serta lambs! I love their expressive eyes and their cute skinny little legs. This commercial is the new one where one lamb is taken to the groomers...it's hilariously cute!

Oh my gosh, I love those little lambs. I went on ebay a while back and there are a lot for sale but they are small and the big ones are few and far between and costly. So adorable and snuggly looking. Good call on that choice!

The Chantix turkey is the only commercial I don’t hit the mute button for..I love the details in the commercials and my favorite is the one where he is at the lake with his beach buggy. Haven’t seen many holiday commercials yet but am already sick of the Jared one.

The turkey hiking boots!!!!! To die for that little guy!

Gosh, I haven't seen any of those commercials! Sound so cute. I like the one where the single mom works all day, probably Christmas Eve, comes home to her son, very tired. Guess what. He went out and bought a Christmas tree, decorated it, and did all the laundry and put it in a basket with a big bow around the basket. She walks in and looks at the tree first, like, 'where in the world...................?' And he's standing there just hoping she likes what he's done. Of course she mists up -she loves it and hugs ensue. So cute.

They have now decided to shorten this commercial which is a crime.

@Judaline Is this the one where he rides his bike to a pawn shop?  What is he trading in for $$?  A gun??  I have been trying to make out what he is pawning.  I like the commercial, too, but if it is a gun, it makes the ad sort of creepy.

@tends2dogs   No he is selling his game console.  It's obvious in his backpack and at the shop.  His mother also is seen taking the control from his hand as he sleeps.

Yeesh.  A gun?  Why??????

The full commercial is readily availabe on iSpot, Youtube, etc.

I like the message "Christmas is what you make it" from Hobby Lobby. It shows a teenager decorating the tree for his single mom while she is at work. Nothing lavish, and his gift basket contains a few practical items. I've read many stories on these boards from people who grew up poor but still felt the wonderment of Christmas because they didn't place a high value on "stuff" but on love and family.

I love that Chantix turkey. He's a vast improvement over creepy Ray Liotta.

@MoJoV   Ray Liotta used to be so good looking. What happened? He either aged badly or had plastic surgery. Either way, not good anymore.

This Downy commercial irks me to no end.  Who the heck goes on a first date wearing a tee-shirt with a collar like this?

@Johnnyeager   LOL  I say that everytime I see this clown.  Seriously.  Not to mention it's an ugly t-shirt for a first date.

As bad as the Bounce commercial with the unironed shirt.  What a waste of the original song.

@Cakers3 I agree about the Bounce commercial.  I love that original song by The Outfield!  Don't know what possessed them to malign it for that commercial.
