What does that mean exactly? Is it like "adult swim"? Why is it on some threads but not others? If nobody is allowed to comment any longer, why not just delete the entire thread? Some threads get poofed mid-topic, then they let others remain, yet nobody can comment further? I don't get it.

I'd rather have the commenting closed on a thread than it be poofed completely. I guess they do it when 'they' feel there is some value to the topic but it's been beaten to death? Who knows?

Hmmm... perhaps. I guess the definition of ""value"" is subjective. I have seen far too many threads with lots of valuable contributions go poof... yet others remain that contain the ever present poster-on-poster attacks.

Maybe some like to delete and others just close it and move on. LOL Who knows how the Web Master mind works.

Reminds me of Agent Smith in The Matrix

I think when it says comments closed it is on it's way to being deleted.

Either the "right " people didn't complain and get it poofed, or it is the Moderators way of "archiving" threads..
Or might be the only way to keep the "middle of the night" gang from bringing up ancient threads to drive everyone else nuts

I've often wondered the same thing. I think it often depends on the whim of the web master on duty on the day in question. Why some threads are poofed and others are not is also very questionable.

honestly, I wish webbie would just lock threads and not delete the posts at all.

Once they are ""closed"" they will fall off quicker since no one can bring them forward again by adding to them.....but there probably wasn't anything there to warrant a poof? Poof worthy?
