@Topaz Gem  @GenXmuse  @saltysails  Read Post #7.  They aren't buying Fox News.  They are buying 21st Century Fox.

I'm confused.  Is it Fox News or just the other part of 21st Centry Fox for sale?????

What part(s) of the Fox entertainment stuff that is up for sale is not aligned with Disney?

The bid is for Twenty-First Century Fox assets only.  This does not include Fox News.  Here is the letter from Comcast to the Murdochs:

Dear Rupert, Lachlan and James,

We have long admired what the Murdoch family has built at Twenty-First Century Fox. After our meetings last year, we came away convinced that the 21CF businesses to be sold are highly complementary to ours, and that our company would be the right strategic home for them.

So, we were disappointed when 21CF decided to enter into a transaction with The Walt Disney Company, even though we had offered a meaningfully higher price. We have reviewed the publicly available terms of the proposed Disney transaction, as well as the joint proxy statement/prospectus filed with the SEC describing the reasons for the 21CF Board of Directors’ decision. In light of yesterday’s decision in the AT&T/Time Warner case, the limited time prior to your shareholders’ meeting, and our strong continued interest, we are pleased to present a new, all-cash proposal that fully addresses the Board’s stated concerns with our prior proposal.

Comcast is a huge rip off, raisea the charges almost every month, and tons of channels I don't want, so paying a huge amount for next to basic, forcing people to pay for foreign language channels that they never watch, etc.

@mousiegirl

I have heard horror stories about Comcast from relatives that live in other states and that is their only option for cable....

But my sis and friends have Spectrum and they are a nightmare too....They quote you one price, and then when you get your bill it's not what they quoted, their technicians dont know what they are doing, they have to come back several times before they get it right, and then Spectrum includes their own news channel, like you dont have enough already with cable....why should subscribers have to pay for that!!!  And their rates keep going up....

I am so lucky our neighborhood got in on a great deal with another company, a Texas based cable company that only serves certain parts of Texas and only certain cities......People are pretty much happy.  Yes, we do have small rate increases---my bill went up $5.99 a month this year, but they also added some channels--mostly retro channels, wish they would add more....
