Heard today that a British high court judge has relented and will allow in this specialist who has offered to come to England to evaluate baby Charlie Gard. He's the eleven month old critically ill boy who has not been allowed to be treated outside of the country.
Although the parents have raised the money to explore whether experimental treatments could work, the court in England apparently has been able to prevent them from leaving the country to do so. Although It sounds as though little Charlie has very slim chances, I'm glad at least his parents are finally being allowed to consult other medical opinions.
They will know they have tried to do everything possible for their son...

He is not from the University but from the Medical Center associated with the School which is now part of New York Presbyterian Hospital

This is an extremely controversial situation.
The Catholic church has also tried to intervene.

The torment that those parents are going through must be gut wrenching. My heart breaks for them.

This is just my opinion but I think it's the parents right to seek out all available options.I personally disagree with them but I strongly feel that it's their decision to make.I think the British government should mind their own business!!
My heart breaks for this family. I wish them peace & healing!!

As a moral judgement.....and as a parent....I would seek out any medical option available for my child. Haven't they been through the wringer enough?

My friend told me about this. It sounds like their healthcare system isn't so good.
I worked with the Brits back in the mid and late 60's. They weren't very happy about the healthcare system back then.
However, the people I worked with was a Wing Commander (same thing as Lt Colonel) and his secretary who was employed by the Embassy. I don't remember about her insurance company.

It has to do with experimental and controversial drugs, etc. nothing to do with healthcare or wing commanders from the 60's.

Not about this case specifically, but sometimes parents are in denial about the truth about their child's health.
Remember that story about the girl who went in for a tonsilectomy, and was later declared brain dead, but the family insisted that she was not brain dead, and is in fact, still being kept "alive" through artificial means, in some nursing home, in I think Florida?
At some point, parents need to stop being in denial, and accept the reality, painful as it may be, that their child is not going to survive, or is already gone.
