1) I am not surprised.
2) I am surprised that people are surprised/shocked.
3) I have no faith that anything will happen to anyone involved.
I went to high-school (actually, 1-12) with kids who cheated their way into a few of the schools mentioned in this article ("donations" made as well). Today they are lawyers, doctors, and hold other positions of power and wealth. How do I know? They bragged about it at the time.
Heck, some kids in my school (private) were there ONLY because mummy and daddikins wrote a huge check so precious wouldn't be expelled. We're talking late 1970's/early 1980's. This "scandal" is nothing new. And why people think celebrities are special and above being scum, I'll never know.

As if their kids are not priveliged enough they have to buy their way into schools, so kids that actually earned it are cheated out of the spot ...boy, Hollywood hipocrites keep getting better....

ACT/SAT administrators as well as coaches got money; so far they are saying the college administrations weren’t participants...but who knows. Can only imagine how those kids may feel when they find out they didn’t get the test scores they thought they did...and that their parents bought their way into the school. Resentful and hostile are two words that come to mind...although they say some kids did know because they posed as athletes for photos
it was also reported that students can be disenrolled or suspended due to submitting fraudulent information on admission papers. Oh what a tangled web we weave....

My third child throughout her school years almost always froze up during her exams (it took a lot for her to get through her senior project, which was a requirement for HS graduation). It took lots of patience and coaching to get her through it.
Because of her shyness and nervousness it was suggested that she attend a two year community college before transferring to a university. She did that and went on to graduate from both schools.
I never ever thought to have her cheat her way through, my conscience would never let me.

Starting at a two year school is a great idea for many kids...one of mine took several courses there during the summer since it was so much cheaper than the private school she attended. Every student is different...parents need to get out of their way. It sounds like the parents involved in this scheme are the ultimate “ helicopter parents”.
“Helicopter parents” with millions....a terrible combo! The tax liability alone is going to be something they may be dealing with for years to come in some cases.

Athletics
University of Texas warrants a special look for many professional
sports....especially the NFL. Wonder how many pro athletes are
the recipient of this cheating scam. 🤔 And I would venture to
say....popular Olympic athletes are being part of this, as well.
