@SahmIam wrote:Let us also remember that the ONLY REASON this came to light was due to a California Big Wig who already had used Singer to get a daughter into YALE by FAKING her soccer credentials. The soccer coach at Yale decided to contact the parent directly for ANOTHER CHILD in order to FAKE her credentials as well. THe coach, Rudy Meredith, didn't know this PARENT was ALREADY CHARGED in stock FRAUD by the Feds and offered up this info to CUT A DEAL with the Feds. Parent wore a wire and the rest is history.
The scum is so deep, we gotta wear boots, folks.
I did not know this!
Where did you see the details?
I’d love to read more about this...the wearing of a wire by someone was mentioned briefly in some posts, maybe articles.
I wondered when the origin of the scam by the FBI was mentioned, but failed to find details.
thank you

Here's one article about the dad of a Yale student who tipped off the feds in order to get a lighter sentence for an unrelated securities fraud that he was involved in. Dad was involved in the scheme in getting his first kid into Yale and then was approached with the same scheme to get his other kid into Yale too.

@millieshops : Oh I know and understand why....because they could and when you are arrogant anything goes.
My wording was not good on my original post.

Marcia Clark was on the view today 3/18/2019 and she made an interesting comment something to the effect that top companies like Apple will only consider candidates from certain schools.

@lovescats It's not just Apple; many companies do that. In reverse, there are companies that will NOT hire graduates from specific colleges; my husband can attest to that.
It all comes down to what they are looking for/not looking for.

It's been that way for Wall Street jobs for decades and decades.
They recruit for the training program from the very best "elite" or Ivy League schools, but hire from other schools for the non-fast track jobs.

It goes to point out that the world is not fair, and anybody can and does face discimination as we go through life. We should do what we can to see that people are treated fairly. ALL of us. People should be taken on their individual merits and evaluated for who they are not what group they fit into.

@Sooner, that sounds good on paper, but not so much in real life. Doing what we need to see that all people are treated equally is a daunting goal that involves many steps -- some of which are long-term and some of which are more short-term.
