@Blahblahvampemer wrote:What climate change? 250 peer-reviewed studies last year alone don't back the theory, most scientists call it "weather," and with 40,000 dying in Europe during the winter of 2014, yeah for warming...but we're actually cooling.
BTW, the planet itself spews so much more filth into the atmosphere than all human activity combined, and when the sun burns hotter, we're going to be hotter.
Tax the sun! Tax the planet!
That's cute. There are over 12,000 papers supporting it and there's a 97% consensus rate that it's real and that people are contributing to it.
And no, we're not cooling. That's a myth believed when people don't look at the whole picture. http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/GISSTemperature/giss_temperature2.php

12,000 pages, 97%. Lots of deep pockets, lots of government grants and many crooked politicians on both sides.

The crooked politicians are the ones taking the $$$ from the oil companies and voting against any action that enacts any legislation to combat climate change. They're also the same people who oppose education standards/funding.
The other side is also taking the money and lying that they don't. They are all lying liars.

You do have lots of company, 23% of Americans don't care or believe it.
But, then again, 63% do.
The surveys I've seen were nothing like the numbers you cite. And they were recent. It was near the very bottom of the list of concerns. People are concerned about jobs, the economy, and a raft of other things. It is a boutique issue.

I quoted studies, not surveys. A survey is meaningless, it's about people who are around or want to respond, not balanced.

Anyone remotely interested can google the phrase, "do scientists agree on climate change?"

Chart and text from NASA
(http://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/)
Temperature data from four international science institutions. All show rapid warming in the past few decades and that the last decade has been the warmest on record. Data sources: NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, NOAA National Climatic Data Center, Met Office Hadley Centre/Climatic Research Unit and the Japanese Meteorological Agency.

Thanks, I did.

I imagine everyone here knows how to find information, if they're interested.
I encourage anyone to do their own research........

Here is the second most highly cited response to Yorkies suggestion:
The scientific consensus is that the Earth's climate system is unequivocally warming, and that it is extremely likely (meaning 95% probability or higher) that humans are causing most of it through activities that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. In addition, it is likely that some potential further greenhouse gas warming has been offset by increased aerosols.

The Earth will survive. It has for a long time. As far as us? Not likely. Am I worried about that? No.
